I thought the movie was good shit, but I also loved the abrupt and jarring tone shift. I love that it was disorienting for the audience as it was for the main character.

Here's a list of tons of leftist movies.
For my viewing experience, I didn't feel as though there was friction between the movie being a genre film and a racial critique film because i think what the director is trying to get at is that "Get Out" is a horror genre movie, like any other horror genre movie. the difference is that the horrible scary thing just happens to be white people/ racism rather than robots, aliens or godzilla, an interesting subversion of how white horror has historically had monsters who are poc/ marginalized people --particularly disabled people or monsters coded as being poc/marginalized
I like this take. Although I don't think there was no friction, it was afresh breath of air from typical horror films and the baggage they carry.
the horrible scary thing just happens to be white people/ racism
way fucking scarier than other monsters tbh

You get they were swapping brains, right?
Ok that was the other part I didn't get. Chris would have still been in that subconscious below zone right? Maybe thats the key to everything.
Parts of him? I don't think he would still "be" there, but they were implying that there was enough left inside to know something was wrong.
But then wait, where does the brain go? Cause if they swapped brains, wouldn't Chris inhabit the other guy's body and the other guy inhabit Chris's? Or is the conscious detached from the brain somehow?
The trash? It's been a while, but I don't think they were too concerned about what happened to the black peoples' brains afterwards.
OH I get it now. Ohhhhhhhhh, that's what happened to the Logan guy

Yeah, I said swapping brains, but really they were stealing bodies.
