On Anime

While Anime is a beloved animation style with a rich history and extensive following, our focus here leans towards other forms of animation. This is due to the immense popularity of Anime in online spaces, which is amply covered by other dedicated communities.

This doesn't mean that Anime related conversation is not allowed here, only that it's not our focus.

On Technical Discussion

While our primary goal is to discuss animated media, conversations about animation techniques and the process of creating animation are also welcome. I watched this really trippy Hungarian movie from the 70's called Bubble Bath ( Habfürdö ). It's available on archive.org.

I recommend it if you like psychedelic/experimental animation, or if you just want watch something interesting after you consume an edible.

5 episodes into the nw Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles which is a spinoff of last years Mutant Mayhem movie and it's a pretty solid show. I like that it focuses more on the individual brothers separate from the group to help flesh them out a little bit. The 2D animation is pretty solid. I think they managed to replicate a lot of the vibe of the movie's CGI. Keeping the movie's voice cast for the turtles and April was excellent. My gripes are that so far the main plot isn't super engaging and I find the show to just not be as funny as the movie. The music is also just whatever.

Just rewatched the first two episodes of Neon Genesis Evangelion. I had watched it the first with a friend.

It's still as solid as ever, what a beautiful, complex and charming show overrall. The first time I watched me and my friend were focused on the character development but watching it alone, I love how fleshed out the other aspects of the show are: namely the sci-fi aesthetics and sound design.
