A community for the fans and critics of the show 30 Rock.
Discussion of the show, pictures from the show and anything else 30 Rock related.
Rules:
- All DubVee instance rules apply. See the sidebar at https://dubvee.org/. Those are pretty comprehensive, so we don't really need to add much to those.
- No politics outside of what's referenced on the show. Let's leave that drama elsewhere since there's plenty of it.
- All posts must be 30 Rock related or adjacent. You dummies are awesome, so I don't think I've ever had to mod any posts for this, but codifying it for good measure.
- Less a rule and more of a guideline, but please try to provide alt text if your instance + client combination support it. If not, then please try to make an effort to provide a description of any image posts in the post body. Let's be an a11y when we can :)
- Don't make fun of people for misusing dated cultural references. Are we all cowabunga on this?
- No talking about Krang. It would be a waste of time to talk about Krang on ~~television~~ the internet.
Apparently most NBC affiliates refused to air it because aside from simply promoting the upcoming fall schedule, it heavily endorsed the then-new streaming service Peacock. They saw that as a potential means of leading viewers away from them.
Which makes sense from the standpoint of a traditional broadcast business, but if 2020 proved anything was true, it was that streaming services are the new king. Traditional broadcast TV is the horse-drawn carriage business in an automobile world.
I sent this to a friend of mine who is a huge fan of 30 Rock, and he was unaware of it too. So I will thank you again on his behalf: this was much appreciated! Thank you!

"We make horse buggies and the first Model T just rolled into town."
"We're dinosaurs..."
"We don't need two metaphors. That's bad writing. Not that it matters."
EDIT: Is that last line there also another "Studio 60 vs. 30 Rock" joke?
