I'm cautiouslt optimistic. You get XP by levelling them AND by collecting decor AND by releasing them. I already release a significant amount of restaurant and salon pikmin, it's nice that now I'll get something for it.
What's not clear to me is whether or not this allows us to upgrade pimkmin from regular decor to rare, or whether (like the former restaurant system, clover pikmin, train pikmin) it's only new decor gifts that might be rare.
I'm a little disappointed that this update came out a day and a half after I purged a couple dozen redundant pikmin from my collection, though. I could have already leveled all three categories.
Hope you enjoyed some of those exotic location mushrooms during my vacation, @[email protected]! I got all stocked up on mountain decor.
Ah! I had mountain covered and then they released more. So, I'm happily jealous.

Definitely enjoyed the mushroom invites. If I missed any invites it's because I'm travlleing for work and my workday has no cell coverage. Otherwise I snagged any invites I could.

I got both Mt. Rushmore and Mato Tipila, which was nice. Most of them are from the mountain the hotel was on, but I'll take it! Appreciated your help with the mushrooms for sure.
Just got my first level, let me send one of my regular rarity pikmin on a one-minute mission to upgrade to rare decor.
Huh. Okay, I kind of like that.
Got my first XP just now as two piks who had been already journeying for their decor before the update returned. I got 200xp for each of them fetching decor, and 20XP for releasing one. When I'm able to level one I'll try to record that number as well.
Edit: Sorry, just realized it's not levelling but pulling them from the seed pots that gives XP — seems to be 30 but I may have lost track.
