This is unfortunately unsurprising as Modi's the current PM of India

Indians are at the mercy of their version of America's Trump :/


Hopefully the workers can be freed with reparations but I wouldn't hold my breath

Although you are correct with your assessment of Modi and Trump, in this case it was the police filing cases. This usually happens because employees block roads and entrances. Police seems to have acted as a reaction to that.

Important to note also is that the Tamil Nadu state government main party is in Delhi in opposition to Modi's extreme nationalistic Hindutva party and organisations.
