How do you recognize your migraine? And what do you take for it?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

If I can't avoid it or if I'm in a hurry, I will take Paracetamol 500mg. If there is no change within an hour, I'll take Ibuprofen 600mg. But if I have time, I will get some rest (avoid bright light, close eyes and listen to podcasts).

He got a serious warning last week, but he did not learn from it. This will cost him badly, next year Norris will drive nr 1. Maybe that will be a lesson for him.

Not learned anything from last week.

The precedent was years ago with Facebook and WhatsApp blocking alleged anti government messages (which the court branded as anti-nation, sedition). Last year the BBC documentary about Modi and alleged fascism was world news and led to the departure of BBC from India. The problem is that the world sees India as an emerging market where in fact it is a fascist country in the making.

You should leave anyway if you have a chance. Germany looking for 70.000 skilled Indians.

You are looking for the wrong thing. I've been traveling with British in India and they love indian "curry", but there is no such thing in (South) India. In restaurants they call fluid side dishes "gravy" sometimes.

Look for Dal, Butter Massala, palak paneer. MTR brand has them, but beware they are not nearly as tasty as fresh made in the most cheap restaurants. And check if you can find a pot of chutney.

Some interesting food will never be available in ReadyToEat in a reasonable quality: vadai, idly, dosai with coconut chutney tomatochutney and mint.

My advise: RtE is mediocre at best. Just enjoy Orissa, take (parcel) food from restaurants and enjoy it while you are there.

Were there any teams that followed the recommended/predicted tyre strategies?

All the toppers did one-stops, which were not on the list. How about further down?

EVER SLOW GREEN – Re-afforestation in Auroville, South India

50 years ago, a unique afforestation project took root on an eroded desert plateau in Tamil Nadu, South India, when people from diverse countries came together to establish the international experimental township of Auroville.

Initially driven by the necessity to make the harsh conditions more liveable, the idealism of some early residents lead them to develop expertise in cultivating the Tropical Dry Evergreen Forest, a rare forest type native to the coastal belt of Tamil Nadu.

Today, the lush Auroville forest is an outstanding example of eco-restoration that recreates and preserves a type of tropical forest that is on the verge of extinction.

Ever Slow Green tells the story of Auroville’s 50-years-young forest through some of the diverse characters who have dedicated their lives to bringing it to fruition.

Just now, AVROTROS has released a statement about what happened on Thursday night with Joost Klein:

We have taken note of the disqualification by the EBU. AVROTROS finds the disqualification disproportionate and is shocked by the decision. We deeply regret this.

An incident occurred after last Thursday's performance. Against clearly made agreements, Joost was filmed when he had just gotten off stage and had to rush to the greenroom. At that moment, Joost repeatedly indicated that he did not want to be filmed. This wasn’t respected. This led to a threatening movement from Joost towards the camera. Joost did not touch the camera woman. This incident was reported, followed by an investigation by the EBU and police.

Yesterday and today we consulted extensively with the EBU and proposed several solutions. Nevertheless, the EBU has still decided to disqualify Joost Klein. AVROTROS finds the penalty very heavy and disproportionate. We stand for good manners -let there be no misunderstanding about that- but in our view, an exclusion order is not proportional to this incident.

We are very disappointed and upset for the millions of fans who were so excited for tonight. What Joost brought to the Netherlands and Europe shouldn’t have ended this way.

Horrendous is the word of the day in the Press Room.

$9bn port, airport and military base on Great Nicobar Island will cause ‘genocide’ of isolated Shompen, academics warn.

The letter questions India's commitment to being the world's largest democracy and refers to the words of jurist John Rawls, stressing the importance of justice and the need to reform or abolish unjust laws and institutions. The plea is for the judiciary to uphold equal liberties and protect rights secured by justice, emphasizing that such rights should not be subject to political bargaining or social interests.

Loud alarm from my phone's speaker came with it.

Just wondering what happens in traffic if everybody at a crossing gets these alarm sounds from their phone at more or less the same time.

Relations between India and Canada have further deteriorated after Delhi announced it was suspending visa services for Canadians due to “security threats” faced by its embassy and consulates in Canada.

BLS International, which runs the Indian visa offices in Canada, put a notice on its website stating that all visa services for Canadians were suspended until further notice, citing “operational reasons”.

Arindam Bagchi, a spokesperson for India’s foreign ministry, confirmed the suspension at a media briefing, mentioning “the incitement to violence, the inaction by the Canadian authorities and the creation of an environment that disrupts the functioning of our high commission and consulates” as the reason.

[.....]

Should Canada impose similar visa restrictions on Indian citizens, it could have a significant impact. Indians topped the list last year of legal immigrants to Canada, with more than 118,000 becoming permanent residents in 2022. There are also more than 320,000 Indian students studying in Canadian universities.
