MakeMKV is the only cross platform bluray ripper that I'm aware of that will work with any disc. For DVDs, I normally use Handbrake.

I’ve never had a problem with makemkv. I use it for everything. Even paid for a license lol.
I use handbrake with libaacs, libbdplus and an up-to-date keydb

With these in place, you can just read and transcode a Blu Ray like any other media.
