Nailed on they will defederate at some point in the medium term (if they federate in the first place) in order to try and dominate the space left by Twitter.

It’s so disappointing to me that people are jumping at this app, pretty much just because it’s Facebook-owned. There have been tons of twitter competitors, but it’s like people can’t help themselves: big company = good app.

My point being, Reddit will stay dominant until Facebook makes a competitor.

This seems legitimately insane to me. It adds an already very bait-and-switchy (re: we're going to federate later despite that being like the feature of this platform) early release feel even baiter-and-switchier
