A popular subreddit like /r/gamedeals is a good place to find game deals. In the BAPCS Canada subreddit, game deals are forbidden except for free games.

However, since the other game deals community are smaller/less active, would it be a good idea for this community to be a place to share Steam/Epicgames/Prime Games deals? Should there only been free games (like the subreddit), or is any discount okay?

Not sure about GoG and other platforms, but happy to hear thoughts on those as well.

I can see the appeal but I think it could make this place a target for getting lots of spam/marketing stuff. I don't want this place to be flooded with tons of tiny indie company putting on a 10% sale specifically so as to post here. It might be too small for that now, but it might not be like that forever.

That's a very good point. Do you think we should also stay away from free promos (aside from big game on epic games shared on the subreddit)?

Is it about building a PC in Canada?

No?

Then No.

Personally I would prefer if we keep it to Canadian-specific stuff, there are already other communities for free games out there, ex: [email protected]

Thanks. I did see a few communities, but I found them to not be very active. Will definitely keep an eye on them.

IMO it's better if a community tries to stay focused on its main purpose and not spread too wide. Most users prefer to subscribe to a community for a specific topic after all, it's easier to keep the signal to noise ratio at a good level.

I would elect to put game deals on the feddit.uk community.

I liked hearing about free games and PC item sales but I know many Lemmy users are fed up by deal posts as it is, best if we keep a clear focus on PC parts, devices, peripherals and accessories.
