Hi folks ๐Ÿ‘‹

Is it possible to take over a community that was created by a now absent owner?

This is the community:

[email protected]

I've messaged the mod @[email protected] a few times but I don't get a response. I also created a post in the hopes they would notice, but I think they've abandoned the community - their last activity was 3 months ago.

I'd like to develop this community further, but I'm stuck without being able to become a mod myself.

Any ideas?

You can, you just need to get in touch with the admins. They can check if the user has logged in and otherwise they will transfer it over to you

How do you get in touch with the admins?

That's my next question too. :)

@[email protected] too

You would need to message one of the admins directly (if you know the admin in charge of it then message them), or you would need to join the lemmy.world discord. Some instances also have communityrequest places, like [email protected] or [email protected] .

For this instance, I think it's handled by https://lemmy.world/u/clueless_stoner

Think I found where the admins are listed. On https://lemmy.world/ in the sidebar at the bottom the admins are listed.

Turns out the best method is to email [email protected] (as recommended in the profile of Ruud). This raises a ticket in their support system.

You can also tag one of the admins in your post and that should work. Eithey way, message received! And I transferred the community to you!
