Summary

Spain’s Foreign Minister José Luis Albares dismissed U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s claim of ending the Russia-Ukraine war “in 24 hours” as unrealistic, stating peace is unlikely while Vladimir Putin continues his aggression.

Albares warned that allowing Russia to succeed would escalate global dangers.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy similarly downplayed Trump’s promise.

Albares emphasized the need for a more realistic approach to resolving the conflict.

Trump will ‘negotiate peace’ by standing with Putin and insisting Ukraine forgo a sizable portion of territory to end the war.

Zelenskyy will rightfully refuse, then Trump will point his finger at Zelenskyy for failing to come to the table while simultaneously propping up his own ‘great’ efforts to bring peace to Eastern Europe.

I’d add: he’ll probably threaten to pull out of NATO if the rest of the countries continue arming/aiding Ukraine.

I would assume Trump is intent on destroying NATO in any case.

Oh yeah it won’t happen all at once though. He’s going to test it bit by bit to make everyone else flinch. Then probably try to install a series of rules that effectively neuter it.

It’s the way Russia does it - the institution still “stands” but is beaten into ineffectual submission by a series of a thousand cuts. He’s got Turkey, Hungary and possibly Romania and Italy to back him up in this regard.

Lol, sure. We're about 13 years from when he promised to provide details on his "amazing" healthcare plan to replace the Affordable Care Act and over a decade since he promised to release his tax returns... I'm starting to think this guy's just not trustworthy!

Trump has concepts of a plan to end to the war in 24 hours.

Look - he still has that wall to build so some things will need to be delayed.

Trump got Biden & Kamala to help build it for him.

Biden to build more US border wall using Trump-era funds

Right. Putin won't want to look like he does what Donnie tells him to. He'd only agree to ceasefire for some sizeable win. Then the Ukranians might have a problem with that. Trump can't command them to stop fighting. He can cut off weapons, but unless someone hurts the Ukranians so badly that they surrender, they are gonna keep fighting with whatever they have. They might not stop quickly and in fact things could drag on for a long time and get real ugly.
