Irish politicians and campaigners have accused Israel of a deliberate attempt to "smear Ireland" and trying to silence the government's legislative agenda aimed at protecting Palestinian lives.

On Sunday, Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Saar announced the closure of the Israeli embassy in Dublin, claiming the decision was due to Ireland’s "extreme anti-Israel policies" and "antisemitic rhetoric".

Lynn Boylan, Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for Sinn Féin, has dismissed Israel's accusations and believes the move is a tactic to dissuade Ireland from enacting the upcoming Occupied Territories Bill, which would criminalise trade with illegal settlements.

Man, it's days like this i feel bad for not paying my taxes in Ireland. What an exemplary attitude. I wish Israel left my country too. Europe should all be making Israel unwelcome, not cozy up to them.

We've had enough genocidal, ethnic cleansing, mass murder, racist regimes.

Once again pulling the oldest card in thr book with the antisemitism. It's not antisemitic to not condone racial and ethic genocide.

Israel loves, and has been very successful in, playing the victim. Reality is, however, that a victim doesn't send >1000 rockets into a tightly packed state with women and children everyday.

The real anti-antisemitism is the genociders who are mass murdering children because of their ethnicity claiming that their actions represent all Jews and hence criticizing them is anti-semitic.

Even in their use of "If you criticize what you do you're criticizing our race" arguments the Zionists are the closest to Nazis there is in the present day.

Thank you. Israel does not and has never represented me.

That's an interesting angle to look at it from, never considered that - good point.

The most extreme untreated generational trauma in full swing and Netanjahu utilizes it like Putin. Just start a war when the public isn't on your side any more.

I don't blame Israel, I blame Netanjahu and his Oligarchy to steer the Media and the Public into a killing frenzy akin to Nazi Germany. Just listen to them... the enemy isn't human any more. (As are Palestinians to Israelis, or Jews to Nazis, or Ukrainians to Russians...)

Trauma my ass.

Literally only a handful of people alive today in Israel experienced the Holocaust and most aren't even descendents Western European Jews: their parents and grandparents came from Russia (especially people from the Settler Movement).

Nah, this is the same kind of thieving and murdering white colonialism as in the US back when their were genociding the Native Tribes, Appartheid South Africa and the worst of the White occupiers in Africa (such as Belgium in Congo) - as can be seen by the way the Zionists treat Ethiopian Jews - which just happens to be associated with an unusual overwhelmingly white religion other than the usual overwhelmingly White religion.

These people have the same kind of "Western Values" as early XX century Germany.

You're not wholly wrong, but many Russian Jews were victims of the Holocaust as well. You can be a Russian Jew and a Holocaust victim.

Also, Stalin was being pretty fucking oppressive and genocidal of Jews in his own right, so there was also that.

Your other criticisms are valid.

In this the Republic Of Ireland is a shinny example of Humanitarianism and shames most of the rest of Europe (I know I'm ashamed of the government of my own country).

Unlike the Republic Of Ireland not that many European countries will be able to say in the Future when people talk about the XXI century version of the Nazis that they were on the right side of History.

Fuck yeah Ireland.

Wish we would do the same here in the US.

So are they accepting American refugees with Irish heritage yet? I've got a STEM degree if it helps. Please?

Killing Palestinians is antisemitic.

Ireland is more likely to face sanctions within the EU than even Putinist Hungary (due to Germany’s historic obligations to Israel and Ireland not having veto buddies, as Hungary has in Slovakia and Italy)

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Spain will side with them.

Also the biggest losers in a tit-for-tat "veto war" would be Germany as the EU is still mainly a Mercantilist organization and they're the ones who gain the most from it.

Oh to be Irish... please.
