For those that are looking to install GrapheneOS and want to ensure that their banking apps work as intended, here is a curated list with app compability status per country.

Each entry also lists required settings, profile and whether they need access to Google Play services, among other details.

Update on 2024-12-23: The following site is a great resource as well, it provides details on MFA support for various services grouped by country (not only banking): https://2fa.directory/

Thank you @[email protected] for the suggestion!

Shouldn't we also have the opposite list; a sort of name and shame or if you use these banks, you're screwed list?

In part, because it can be more conclusive to take a bank that has consciously made the decision to block access, rather than having a list of banks that maybe just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I'm not sure because a bank being absent from such a list could either mean the compatibility is known to be functional or unknown. And that's very different and I would argue a very critical difference.

As a user I would definitely care most about a list of functional banks and that is what we have. What you propose, while it has its value, would not be actionable to users due to the ambiguity I raised above.

You may have missed "also." The comment does not suggest replacing the current list.

Worth noting, the existing list dies actually appear to cover both known working and known not working apps - apps that do not work have their names given in ~~strikethrough~~.

I don't see root status on these reports. That would be helpful.

Good point! The details for each app are crowdsourced and can be submitted via the instructions here. However, the default templates does not include any mention of root status.

The maintainer of the site can be reached via any medium listed here if anyone would like to suggest updating the templates to include root status.

I love apps like this, so far all my banks except 1 is listed. Once, desktop mode like dex is part of a Google pixel, I’ll try to make the switch assuming my other bank will work.
