Psychonauts was always one of those games I was meaning to play ever since it came out. I've played most of the double fine titles but I started it and it didn't instantly click so I put it down and never got back to it. The second one came out and I thought alright time to go for it. Wow! What a debut from double fine! Clever and fun mechanics, well defined characters, engaging story and actually laugh out loud moments! If you have kids the game dialogue is snappy like a Pixar movie. I made it to the tower and just can't wait to see what happens next. There are a few small things like camera angles or controls that can be a little frustrating after all it's almost a 20 year old game but if do yourself a favor and grab it for $2 on steam or Xbox store right now if you think you might like it. I've already got #2 in the queue.

I really loved the game, the aesthetic and characters were fantastic. The milkman levels are still some of my favourites just because of how surreal it all was.

Amazing game. Have you played the sequel yet? It may even be better than the first.

What a great game. It manages to do what very few games even try, while keeping the same basic platformer controls each level feels fresh and has its own unique experience. I think even the sequel, although more polished and very enjoyable, fails to capture that feeling. I've completed Psychonauts to level 101 so many times over the year, I envy you for getting to experience it for the first time.

I've tried playing it but the controls were so terrible I couldn't bring myself to do more than 5 minutes with it.

I had the same reaction the first time. I will say after a little while the controls do feel less frustrating. But yah I wish there was a remaster with tight controls.
