When they became hard to find, folks started to discover just how limited the Pi is compared to something like an ODroid. Plus, RPi started prioritizing their industrial customers over educational and hobby users that gave the Pi it's popularity. Additionally, the ARM architecture can make it trickier to find boot/installer images for some distributions (though, this is a very small downside).

Also they hired a cop who built surveillance devices with the platform. It turned a lot of people off from them.
