That's great! I've always wondered what it felt like, I wasn't even born then

Everyone was holed up waiting for the world to end because of Y2K. 😯

I was a very young adult, and it was an amazing evening. I only remember parts of it, but I have a specific memory of being in a packed house party, and dancing to Prince's 1999 at 5 to midnight. I remember feeling like we were entering the future and that it was a future full of possibilities and fun. Then things just kept getting better for almost a decade, despite there being occasional hard times. I was able to experience the birth of the world wide web, the proliferation of cell phones, the creation of smart phones, and many other technological advances. I have also been there for noticeable improvements in civil rights. I can't say it's all good, especially the tone of the last several years, but the future is pretty rad.

My friend said to me the next morning that we were not yet 20 and that was the best party we would ever attend. He was right

I wasn’t excited. I was too busy wondering how people in the US were too stupid (a general humanity problem to be sure) to realize the world wasn't ending when nothing happened in all the other time zones that transitioned to the new year before us.

I gathered up a bunch of fearless people, took a grip of drugs and headed off to the craziest rave in my life. So it wasn't all of the the US.
