4 DOLLARS!?!??!??!?!? HOW IN GODS NAME DOES A SINGLE SLICE OF PIZZA AND A CUP OF FIZZ COST 4 DOLLARS FIZZ IS SO CHEAP WHEN BOUGHT IN BULK AS SYRUP IT'S PRACTICALLY FREE SO YOU'RE PAYING NEARLY 4 DOLLARS FOR A SINGLE SLICE OF PIZZA NO I CANNOT COMPREHEND THAT THAT'S ABSURD THAT SHOULD COST LIKE A DOLLAR FIFTY TWO DOLLARS TOPS

[–] [email protected] 31 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (2 children)

Not to worry for you see, the 'single slice of pizza' you mention is actually a Mega Slice, which is probably at least 3 times bigger than a regular slice.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (2 children)

I can see the angle and that's only like 2 times the size of a normal slice and it also looks pretty short compared to the cup and I know american cups are huge but that's in height not width so comparing it to that that slice looks maybe slightly above average to me nowhere near $4 worth also I just noticed it's only a medium fizz so it can probably be compared to a large here yeah that pizzas nowhere near as big as you say

[–] [email protected] 6 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (2 children)

Most all American cups are small enough at the bottom to fit in near universally sized drink holders in a car. The bigger ones get bigger on top. My guess is that's about 28 to 32 oz medium. About the size cup to wander around a job site with till ya all hit the Chinese buffet at lunch...😝

[–] [email protected] 8 points 9 months ago

oh always wondered why they had that skinny bottom in the us figured it was just sealed off at the bottom like sticking a superfluous bit to the bottom to make it look bigger without giving you more fizz I know you guys revolve around cars but god damn

[–] [email protected] 6 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

Fast food cups pretty much universally come in 32 oz (8, 12, 16, 24, 32, 48), having worked places that sold styrofoam 32 oz cups for decades, I'm extremely confident that's the size it is. For Europeans to comprehend, it is essentially 1 liter.

Nah, the scale's weird the pizza at these places is actually usually pretty huge

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (2 children)

I guess that's better then but it's still pretty pricy pizza here is £25 for a large dominos but there's always some offer for half off so the real price is like £12.50 and that's ten slices so that's £3.75 for 3 slices which sort of lines up with that being $4.65 but at the same time our pizzas supposed to be way more expensive than in the US cause your large is apparently $10 and our real price of £12.50 is $15 so I'dve expected it to be like $2.50 then if it's the size of 3 slices and I don't know about if it still does in the US but dominos used to do free delivery so considering you're at the place to buy it and they don't have to deliver it to you maybe even knock that down to $2 which sort of brings it back to my original gut feeling of what it should cost of $1.50/$2.00 at the upper side but still

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Dominos here hasn't ever done free delivery AFAIK.

A $12 pizza delivered is gonna be like $20 after tip and tax

Would go better with a mega pint tho

[–] [email protected] 12 points 9 months ago

It's at a gas station, everything is overpriced at gas stations.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago (2 children)

How do you buy it as syrup?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Restaurant supply stores, online, etc. They're called "BiBs" or "Bags in Boxes". Usually $80-100 each. Obviously meant for restaurant use, I don't recommend buying it yourself you couldn't make that much soda before it goes bad. But one of those bad boys will make ~120 liters of soda.

SodaStream has begun selling Pepsi syrups for home use. If they weren't an Israeli company I'd buy them.

Soda and pizza for breakfast, interesting

[–] [email protected] 6 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Breakfast pizza is much more like a quiche than traditional pizza. It's just easier to eat without silverware. I personally wouldn't want soda with it, but considering how many people get a large soda in the morning and sip on it all day, getting breakfast and your day's soda in a combo, appeals to my Midwestern frugality.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 9 months ago (2 children)

but considering how many people get a large soda in the morning and sip on it all day,

I am European and this sentence broke something in my soul.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 9 months ago

When I got my first job as an American teen, I remember being surprised by it as well. Everyone at the pharmacy I worked at did that, and some topped-up their soda by pouring in a can from the vending machine in the early afternoon. Not that I wasn't used to American soda drinking, but realizing how much of a habit it was for so many of my coworkers, was my first realization that nobody in the workforce was happy, and they were all just self-medicating with sugar and pre-diabetes.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 9 months ago (1 children)

My dear friend.

Please allow me to expose to you some horrors I have witnessed first hand, so that you may go into the world fully aware of the dread it holds and hides.

For there are things that should not be out there.

Like people that sleep - yes, sleep - with a bottle of Coca Cola by their bedstand and wake up during the night to drink from it. And that see as a proper waking ritual to unscrew the cap of the same bottle - or perhaps a fresh one - take a long swig from it, light a cigarette and smoke it as they put on their bedroom slippers.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

That reminds me of an ex-roommate who, at some point, stopped drinking water altogether and only drank Coke or Ice Tea. At the same time he'd base most of his diet on McDonalds and went to the gym every other day. He would also only drive to the gym although it was like 5 minutes by foot. Apart from that he also brushed his teeth like once a week tops. I wonder what's become of him.

I'm not european and I can't comprehend this. Yuck.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

It's a Midwesterner thing, you wouldn't understand.

Though, I'm sure there are some midwesterners who don't like breakfast pizza, I personally like it though and so do most people I know.

Healthy meal...for a polar bear.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 9 months ago

Polar Bears drink Coke, not Pepsi.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 9 months ago (1 children)

No mind should have to comprehend this.
Leave it to the AI. Let it make four buck midwest pizza breakfast ads for itself to consume, and we can just observe from up here, on the other side of the vacuum-sealed, anti-UV, bulletproof glass hatch.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago

HELP ME I HATE IT HERE

[–] [email protected] 13 points 9 months ago

nor should they.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Casey's Pizza is actually bomb though

Well I have to admit that I'm a little intimidated, and I ain't even European.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 9 months ago

I comprehend it enough to say that is not a good breakfast.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 9 months ago

No breakfast pizzas in Europe huh? That's a bummer...

[–] [email protected] 11 points 9 months ago (2 children)

I'm assuming we're referencing the absurd price of it? I wouldn't be caught dead paying that much for a slice of pizza and a drink.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Where do you live that this would be cheaper? 🤔

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

I live in Wales, lil' country next to England.

For some extra context — there is a little family run café down the road from me, that will give you a full English Breakfast for very close to that price.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 9 months ago

Wow, that's wild to me. I looked at this and thought "not a bad deal, though why would I want soda at breakfast". A "full breakfast" (not sure what goes into the English part), but something like eggs, sausage, bacon, home fries, and pancakes, would be like $12. Coffee another $2.50.

What can't they comprehend? A cheap, high calorie breakfast is on-par with our reputation.

What I can't comprehend is a breakfast pizza. It's not really any different than a breakfast burrito except that it is messier. Just go for the burrito.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

Casey's Breakfast pizza is well known for its gravy sauce though, which is peak America and not something found in burritos

Cheap? That’s fine dining here in the Midwest. Bah a donut is like a Buck fifty

[–] [email protected] 6 points 9 months ago

Breakfast pizza is fucking awesome. Try it.

I sure hope the pizza is cold. Leftover pizza is the best.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 9 months ago (3 children)

No, it's hot, with either a milk gravy, or breakfast cheese sauce (think nacho cheese without the sharpness), bacon or breakfast sausage with a bunch of cheese.

I'm assuming the chain that the advert is for is a gas station called Casey's which is known in the midwestern United States for it's pizza and other hot food items.

Link to the breakfast pizzas in question

This is "I wanna die in my 30's breakfast".

[–] [email protected] 7 points 9 months ago

I can understand this is you're a Brooks ass student and just need to survive. Any other way, wtf drinks half a liter of soda before even brushing their teeth.... Tf

[–] [email protected] 6 points 9 months ago

When it's not drugs, it's the unhealthy food.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Start your day with something healthy 👍

[–] [email protected] 6 points 9 months ago

Make it a Diet Pepsi! 😉

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago

It’s not a Midwest breakfast at that price or unless the slice is left over

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago

Can confirm
