For owls that are superb.

WINNER: BARN OWL 45-19

First up, we have top seeded Barn Owl. This owl has the widest distribution of any land bird, so wherever you may be, there probably is one of these guys nearby.

Going up against them is Cuba's native owl, only member of the genus Margarobyas, is the Bare Legged Owl. Will those fancy legs be enough to win over an owl probably all of you are familiar with?

poor Bare Legged Owl never stood a chance

I think it picked up a few new fans at least! He's a cutie and put up a good showing against a very tough opponent.

Those massive eyes!

If paired against a less famous (and derpy looking) owl, this BLowl would likely have had my vote for how unproportionally large and pretty it's eyes are. Alas.

There's always next year, and all the posts in between.

I can definitely highlight the ones that put up a good fight. They're all superb after all!

Very true! There are no losers in this contest if you ask me. I look at as more publicity for the lesser known owls and a chance for the lurkers to participate.

I like those fancy legs but this is an unwinnable match up, the Barn Owl is too iconic.

Thanks for running this bracket!

Choosing number one seed has been the easiest thing so far in doing this. This owl is anywhere people are and is part of myths and legends.

Will it win overall? People always tell me they prefer the plumicorn owls, so Barn Owl still has a fight ahead.

Glad you're enjoying it so far!

A Barred Owl with alopecia walks into a barn on a snowy night and asks the barn tender, “Who am I? Who? Who??”

Barn owl. I like that burnt marshmallow colour pattern and how derpy their head shape is.

Sorry to the BLOwl!

Hehe BLowl is a good name.

Round 1 is probably going to have done decisive victories since this is a popularity contest, but I'm hoping for some surprises.

The next rounds will be tense though once it's just down to the big names.
