Thomas Sankara, political leader of Burkina Faso in the 1980s, was born on December 21, 1949 in Yako, a northern town in the Upper Volta (today Burkina Faso) of French West Africa. He was the son of a Mossi mother and a Peul father, and personified the diversity of the Burkinabè people of the area. In his adolescence, Sankara witnessed the country’s independence from France in 1960 and the repressive and volatile nature of the regimes that ruled throughout the 1960s and 1970s.

From 1970 to 1973, Sankara attended the military academy of Antsirabe in Madagascar where he trained to be an army officer. In 1974, as a young lieutenant in the Upper Volta army, he fought in a border war with Mali and returned home a hero. Sankara then studied in France and later in Morocco, where he met Blaise Compaoré and other civilian students from Upper Volta who later organized leftist organizations in the country. While commanding the Commando Training Center in the city of Pô in 1976, Thomas Sankara grew in popularity by urging his soldiers to help civilians with their work tasks. He additionally played guitar at community gatherings with a local band, Pô Missiles.

Throughout the 1970s, Sankara increasingly adopted leftist politics. He organized the Communist Officers Group in the army and attended meetings of various leftist parties, unions, and student groups, usually in civilian clothes.

In 1981, Sankara briefly served as the Secretary of State for Information under the newly formed Military Committee for Reform and Military Progress (CMRPN). This was a group of officers who had recently seized power. In April 1982, he resigned his post and denounced the CMRPM. When another military coup placed the Council for the People’s Safety in power, Sankara was subsequently appointed prime minister in 1983 but was quickly dismissed and placed under house arrest, causing a popular uprising.

On August 4, 1983, Blaise Compaoré orchestrated the “August Revolution,” or a coup d’état against the Council for the People’s Safety. The new regime which called itself the National Council for the Revolution (CNR) made 34-year-old Thomas Sankara president. As president, Sankara sought to end corruption, promote reforestation, avert famine, support women’s rights, develop rural areas, and prioritize education and healthcare. He renamed the country ‘Burkina Faso,’ meaning, “the republic of honorable people.”

On October 15, 1987, Thomas Sankara was killed with twelve other officials in a coup d’état instigated by Blaise Compaoré, his former political ally. He was 37 at the time of his death.

Why are pixie cuts paired with dark green highlights and wavy black hair the hottest thing ever? Why are they so elusive? Why are we here? Just to suffer?

persona 5I hurt my neck and couldnt move without lots of pain so i woke up early and finished off persona 5.

I liked it i mean the core message of the world is that you can change the world if you want basically. It was a little to easy though. I really like the Madarame arc, definitely the most coherent story.

I romanced three girls, Makoto is waifu even though shes cop trash maybe shell grow out of it. I imagined Futaba being stinky and annoying and then the teacher i romanced as well bc it was funny.

I was trying to romance all the girla but ran out of time. Im mad i didnt get to play with yoshizawa at all, didnt know how to do it.

I might play the musou game next since i have it and all. I definitely will skip tactica that shit looks boring.

Im also considering red dead redemption 2, 13 sentinels and death stranding. Maybe the cyberpunk dlc

Near future?

He uses his parody voice for a few seconds " 'President Trump says he likes Mein Kampf.' I never said that. I never said that. But I've been too nice. Too nice. No more Mr. Nice. Blood and soil. Did Hitler say that? I dunno. But sounds good. Blood and soil. Blood and soil. It has a ring to it - doesn't it? Blood and soil. And the 14 words are strong and powerful. Do you like them? Do you want me to say them? People might get mad if I say them..." And he riffs for 10 minutes straight on just those two topics.

Hours later a reporter shouts at Biden to give a response about Trump's comments and he boldly says "We are the United States of America. This is not who we are. It's not who we are. It's not [inaudible]." and he suddenly turns away from the media and old man shuffles away faster than unusual.

Schumer's tweet reply is typical of the official comments by the dems. He says Trumps comments are "vile" and "intolerable" but he also says "We need strong borders and potent immigration reform."

Does anyone else like to explore the internet in this way? Maybe we can share finds lol:

There's this website called shodan.io that scans common ports on every system connected to the IPv4-speaking internet and collects the results into a database that you can search. I'd do my own portscanning but ISPs don't like that :( I just like to find weird websites or other strange internet services. I just found a really obscure bulletin board system running Plan 9 with a surprising amount of activity lol. Sometimes I'll look up Minecraft servers and try to connect and find really cool builds (I never touch anything I find). Of course, you have to be careful not to violate any security boundaries (like logging into a system you're not authorized to use) or anyone's privacy but it is a really cool way to see what's out there on the internet.

i used to use it to check unsecured webcams lol
most of them were things in universities looking at various experiments, with the occasional security cam
i stopped when i checked one and it was just a middle-aged dude on his laptop and it made me feel like a massive creeper

Took too big a spoonful of vegemite, Cleaned the leftovers off by stirring the spoon in my chaser glass.

Something about this concoction feels right. More experimentation needed.

I just spent so much time today working. 10:30am in and 9:50pm out. I've been home for an hour and every minute from now I stay up comes out of my 8 hours sleep. Haven't even wound down enough to be tired. I don't think I'm going to do much more than eat a couple handfulls of trail mix and just crash.

They didn't even give us ponchos to go out in a rain storm. They loaded up my van so tight I had to half unload it every time I needed to get a new bag. They have us going around begging the customer to use their Amazon Alexia instead of just giving us a bonus.
