Android music library management? (lemmy.world)

I keep a fair-sized music library on my phone... is there a good app to manage and correct idiosyncrasies like duplicate tracks?

Symphony is my go to music app, but there are plenty of others out there, both FOSS and not. Retro Music Player also works great.

Frankly, there isn't a one stop app for music.

If you care about sound first, there's only two or three apps worth having, and none of them are full-fledged music managers.

The best options I've found for tag and duplicate management don't even play music at all. Hell, the tag manager I've settled on isn't even close to what you can get for desktop PC.

Any time you pick a music player for one of those three things, one of the others is going to be barely there, or outright suck. And UI is such a personal thing, there's no point in bringing that up.

If you really want to nail duplicates, sd maid is my pick because it isn't limited to music only. It'll find duplicates, or even things that are very similar (within limits).

Poweramp's great sounding, and is okay with tags as long as you don't mind doing them one at a time.

Star music tag editor is what I settled on for android use. But that's not going to be my first pick for handling tags overall; that's done on PC where there's plenty of options. But it is the easiest to use I found on android that's good for more than manual editing. If you're only going to manually edit tags, mixplorer (a general file manager) is great, and can consolidate many apps to some degree or another.

Mind you, there are many tag manager/editors in the play store. I tried a shit ton of them. They all had flaws, so I settled on what worked for me. But I'm not aware of any that do duplicates, nor that let you manage anything else about the files.

Media monkey does okay as an overall music manager though. But it's only meh as an actual player.

Believe me, I'm hoping someone comes along with something that's more of an all-in-one music manager ala musicbee. But that's the best I've got, and I've been carrying around 128gb cards in my various devices, filled with music files, so I regularly go looking.
