This seems to be matching the Bourbon restoration after the French Revolution (And Napoleon going Kaiju across Europe) The French tried constitutional monarchy for size and there was a decade or so of stability. Then Charles X inherited the throne and promptly started rolling back the civil rights (and property ownership of the Ancien Régime). Despite seeing this was pissing off the French public, Charles X persisted, leading to the July Revolution in 1830. Not to be confused with the Thermidorian Reaction of 1794, though they both involved guillotines and piles of heads.

Anyway, it sounds like Iran is setting up to get yet another poor young woman shot by morality officers. Maybe this time the rioters won't accept armistice offerings from the conservative oligarchy.
