The recall covers certain Models Y, S and X from the 2023 model year. All are equipped with “Full Self-Driving” computer 4.0 and run software version 2023.44.30 through 2023.44.30.6 or 2023.44.100.

The company says in documents posted by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that software instability may prevent the camera image from showing images while the Teslas are in reverse. The safety agency says that can increase the risk of a crash.

Tesla says in documents that it is not aware of any crashes or injuries. Documents say the problem has been fixed with an online software update.

Owners will be notified by letter starting March 22.

So not a recall just a software update.

It's a recall, it's just that they can fix it with as software update.

I thought they pushed software updates OTA all the time?

Are you fishing for the Elon hate comments or really think this is news worthy?

Are you saying that a recall for any vehicle isn't noteworthy?

Because I would have posted it anyway, no matter which manufacturer was involved, because people need to be aware of recalls.

Really? Because NHTSA has 40 vehicle recalls on file so far this month, some of which are much more serious, but this is the only one you've posted about. Recalls happen all the time for all sorts of reasons. This one is not really noteworthy, no.

I read multiple news sources. If a recall is listed I'll post it. I do not search for recalls specifically.

But if that's what you wanna do, have at it.

This is a software update. Not a loose bolt in a steering wheel.

It's still a recall no matter the fix ... and it's repairing a possibly dangerous issue.

I can confirm these backup cameras are a liability. What's much worse than them going black is when they will occasionally hang because the processor on older models (like mine) aren't powerful enough, and what happens is you get an incorrect view from the cameras.
