"privacy, that's iPhone" 🙄

Is there a phone we can actually use without our data being harvested? (Genuine question).

Well, pinephone, probably. You can also just get a custom android ROM and use MicroG instead of actual Google services and that should do the trick

you’d probably be better off with sandboxed play services on grapheneos

Not everyone wants to go the pixel route

Thank you, will have a look into that!

No. Even if the phone itself doesn't track a single thing, your carrier will still track your phone's location and whatever other data they can get.

That wasn't what they asked. Obviously the carrier can do shit but that's a separate issue with different solutions. That doesn't mean we shouldn't care about the phone itself.

I took it as "Is there a phone we can actually use without [any] data being harvested?", in which case my point stands, but I also understand your point as well.

Both are issues, I agree. I think the phone we use is what we have the most control over though which is why I’d like to have a phone which is as good as I can get privacy-wise. (And any insight on what that phone/set-up would be, hence the question!)

I roll with GrapheneOS in airplane mode 99.9% of the time.

Works for me.

How'd you get it on an iPhone?
