I don't know if other people have had this experience. When I try to sign up for a lemmy server in firefox it just hangs indefinitely. I've had to use alternative browsers to sign up for accounts. I hope this is something that will be fixed. Lemmy and firefox should be natural allies.

EDIT: I appreciate the replies but don't frankly understand the downvotes. I will leave this up for now despite all the downvotes. if this really is that bad of a post I will leave it up to the mods to remove it.

Firefox worked fine for signing up on 3 different instances so far.

hmm maybe it's some extension I have installed... next time I will try an incognito window.

Might be, though I also have a rather restrictive set of extensions blocking all kinds of things.

Maybe the instance you tried to sign up to was overloaded at the time?

I doubt it I tried on FF multiple times then switched to brave and it worked instantly...

I use Firefox exclusively for Lemmy and have had zero issues. That said, I've only signed up for accounts at two instances, so maybe other instances have issues.

Here's a quote from a generally good Lemmy howto

To mitigate spam bots, most lemmy instances require new user accounts to be explicitly approved. This may take a few minutes or a few hours. In the meantime, go for a walk, read through the official Lemmy documentation, or browse through all the available Lemmy Subreddits Communities while you wait.

well that does make sense for sites that need approvals like beehaw. However even my home instance after clicking signup the signup button just spun and never completed. The moment I switched browsers the instance accepted me immediately. It's likely a extension issue I believe so I will delete his post for now as it's probably not useful.
