The only "ads" I see are an occasional black box that says "sponsored content".

see my other comment, that's probably because it's an early beta, but the plan is definitely for the free version to display ads, and [people on the [email protected] community are also reporting new tracking attempts](https://lemmy.world/post/2551067) (obviously because of the ads, I did post a screenshot of the privacy policy which already states this)

Possibly the yearly subscription to Ultra? If it was a mistake I'd contact the dev for a refund if I were you.

From other comments, it seems that there's regional pricing in place. In Spain, it's around 20 euros.
