I was just wondering if there's any plans down the road to enable us to watch yt videos directly in the memmy app (I know Apollo had this feature). I think that would be a huge quality of life improvement for video-centric communities, especially if the video player allows circumventing all those ads on mobile yt.

Either way, thank you devs for your amazing work so far! I love Memmy. Feels almost obligatory to add this :)

this would be great to have on any client, but it would probably be hard to implement. (even my beloved Infinity didn't have it)

I think with the API changes going around the techsphere rn, and youtube (maybe) trying to block newpipe, It's better to wait a while for things to settle down though.

I'm totally fine not having the feature if it proofs unfeasable. Definitely would be amazing though as I now often find myself avoiding youtube posts entirely. But maybe that's just me and I'm okay with it either way.

No plans currently. Someone is working on a video player for us, but it’s super hard to get working well.

TBH I think a YT player should be last priority. A lot more needs to improve before using resources on something that's at the fickle will if Google to break.

As an Apollo user I can tell you towards the end (last 12 months) YouTube didn’t work more often than not and you had to click through to view in the in-app browser.

Huh. It seemed to work fine till the end for me, except sometimes I had to tap twice for the video to play.
