The problem is that there's nothing inherently special or good about natural processes. Why should they want to avoid interfering with them?

The Prime Directive is not a bad idea when it exists to minimise harm. When it gets turned into a pseudo-religious dogma, where it is considered better to allow a culture to be extinguished than to risk contaminating it, that's when there are problems for me.

I'd say there's a difference between a "sovereign power" and a single being occupying a cave with a bunch of eggs. Plus, interfering with internal politics and simply making contact are different things.

Are there any browsable backups/archives of Daystrom? There's a vast amount of content there which I'd hate to see lost.
