at some point your internal battery will be degraded enough that it essentially needs to be plugged in to function, which is not feasible.

In the majority of devices the device will be obsolete before the battery is degraded to the point of being unusable.

That's debatable. Sure. my account doesn't actually contain my name and address, but it contains almost 14 years of posts and comments. Through the years I've probably let slip enough small pieces of information about myself that a motivated person would be able to identify me. This would still make it identifiable information.

This feature has been there since iOS 1.0. Originally this was the way Apple envisioned how ‘apps’ on iPhone were going to work. Only with iOS 2.0 did Apple add the app store and support for native apps. And the rest is history.

I dunno. Google is just driven by greed, they are bad but at least they are predictably bad. Facebook feels more like they are genuinely evil, like they are actively trying to make the world worse.

Hell no. I can't think of any company I trust less than Meta/Facebook.
