That feature was only for the PlayStation. You visited a shrine and the game would ask for a music disk. The game would then generate a monster from the meta data of that disk.

For the iPhone, you can still visit that shrine, but instead of asking for a disk, the game would ask for an artist name.

Monster Rancher 1 was $15,99. Is now $10,99

Monster Rancher 2 was $22,99. Is now $15,99

Played the first one on my PS1, inserting all kinds of CD’s in the console to get a unique monster.
