https://my.vatsim.net/events/2-years-on-trip-to-wolf-s-fang-runway Can recommend this one next time. Although you should definitely look into programming a custom waypoint before you try to land. Spotting the runway is hard in the middle of nowhere.

Is this added to the base game, or do you need to do some tricks to get this to work?

I think I boot up the simulator too sporadically to join a VA, I've read multiple VA's that require you to fly at least once a month. Plus it feels a bit limiting in a way? Not being in a VA allows you to fly where ATC is on Vatsim and wherever in the world you want.

Weather at the time:
METAR EHAM 050855Z 26029G41KT 8000 -RA FEW018 SCT023 13/12 Q1002 TEMPO 4000 RA

Thanks to the Vatsim ATC at Schiphol for making the landing even more exciting!

Update for @[email protected] and @[email protected]:

Falling into the sun is a bit time comsuming and finnicky. Try to keep your speed low when you approach the surface, and keep time warp to the lowest you can bear.

The surface is at around -30 km. It looks like this:

Descending further... Long trip. As you approach the core your speed will pick up rapidly. When you're at the core, you'll get slingshotted out of the core at a ludicrous speed, in my case 22248.0 km/s. Interstellar travel before it's implemented?Anyways quite satisfying flying out of the sun's core at a fraction of the speed of light. Can recommend!

... (picture soon, it won't upload)

Still an enjoyable flight. Can't wait for more long haulers in MSFS!

AMD Chill limits your FPS basically. You can enable it in Adrenalin.

Wish it could go lower than 30, but it's a quick way to toggle between 60+ fps and 30. Will definitely be using it when I arrive in the cruise phase from now on.

As it was just a science experiment, infinite fuel has been used...

But in the end I achieved this tight orbit!

I tried to land on the sun as well for the fun of it. The surface at 0 m is not solid. Currently debating if I wanna wait the 30 minutes it takes to get to the centre of the sun.

From Reddit:

TL;DR

  • Thin client, less to download, faster loading times, helps keep min specs low

  • All new physics and aerodynamics engine with much more control for aircraft developers to define aircraft surfaces/geometry to make full use of the flight dynamics.

  • Fully simulated hot air balloon physics.

  • Massive performance improvements, multi-threaded

  • Backwards-compatible (community folder still there)

  • Updated systems (electrical, pneumatic, fuel and hydraulic)

  • Failure, wear and tear system

  • Payload and passenger system overhaul

  • Deeper and wider avionics packages

  • Enhanced tree diversity

  • Improved cliffs

  • 3rd tessellated ground materials

  • Improved ground details - Screenshot

  • Full seasons

  • Aurora borealis, tornados, improved storms

  • Animals herds and migration

  • World live ship traffic

  • Accurate live traffic + more real liveries

  • Improved vehicle traffic

It's looking pretty good, hope the transition from FS2020 to FS2024 will be a smooth one!

Played a little this evening. Performance is a lot better than before. Especially noticeable when launching from the launchpad. Where it froze for a second before it just chugs along smoothly now!

Today’s trailer was a short teaser to introduce Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. We are excited to share much more information about the next generation of the Microsoft Flight Simulator franchise in the coming months. We have been monitoring your feedback to the trailer very closely and apologize for our delayed communication. We would like to take the opportunity to address some of the most common questions we’ve seen.

Will Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 be a completely standalone sequel, or will it also be offered as a paid update for existing players?

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is a standalone simulator and the next-generation sequel to Microsoft Flight Simulator that launched in 2020. Current aircraft and airports that are in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020), as well as virtually all Marketplace add-ons, will be supported in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

What kind of support can Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) players expect to see once Flight Simulator 2024 has been released?

We will continue to deliver our Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) Roadmap which has content ranging from Aircraft and Avionics Updates, Sim Updates, City and World Updates, and also the free Dune DLC. We will continue to support Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) post the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 launch.

Will all purchases users have made from the Marketplace be transferrable to the new simulator?

With very few exceptions, virtually all add-ons that work in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) today will function in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Add-ons that were purchased from the in-simulator Marketplace will not need to be re-purchased in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

I put a 1000h into MSFS2020, surely I can reach a 1000h more on this one!

Feel free to post screenshots of your game when it drops in [email protected]

Wow... This looks amazing!

Probably an update on FS2020? Or a new standalone thing? Very excited regardless!

Edit:
New game instead of an update. Confirmed by Xbox on Twitter.

Sequel? Not an update for MFS 2020?

that's right, a brand new sequel!
