Hi everyone,

Today we are starting the rollout of an updated Linux client (4.7.4), which introduces bug fixes & performance improvements across the board.

This update was prompted by your feedback regarding the app freezing occasionally, which has now been fixed. Additionally, as part of this update, Linux users should expect to see up to a 70% decrease in memory usage, thanks to an improvement in the ‘Search’ feature. We have also improved the start-up time when launching the app in the logged-in state.

As always, performance may vary from machine to machine based on specifications. Let us know if this improvement has been notable on your end, and if you have suggestions or feedback, please drop it in the comments below.

Thank you for your support,

Proton Team

I initially wanted to file a bug report on Github, but

it just directs me to https://protonvpn.com/support/ and I got lost where I should go to file the bug report

if anyone knows, and if you experience the same issues, can you please file the report on our behalfs? thank you

upon installation of the most up to date 4.7.1, I couldn't start the Protonvpn

TLDR, reinstall proton-vpn-gnome-desktop, fixes the issues.

below are my terminal history,

similar to the bug report from reddit:

tor browser works

Once the onion network is established, I would like to run yt-dlp, however, I am hit by the error message saying no connection is established.. same goes to other software I use.

how can i dothat?

I used to be a command line interface (CLI) user and still prefer it, but the graphical user interface (GUI) app has been good—it's stable and fast with WireGuard.

It will reconnect if the connection drops, and the kill switch is functioning. If you're using the v3 CLI, you should check out the new GUI.

A big thank you to the dev

until there is a cli, i will using the gui

A reasonable position would be to ask cosmic to make the other window take up the unused space.

i xposted to pop os and less say they don't like it 😐
https://lemmy.world/post/20487503

i was literally told it has nothing to do with pop: "This has nothing to do with pop-os. If you don’t like this window behavior, take it up with Proton."

When protonvpn is in tiling mode, it leaves a lot of unused space

latest build of the flatpak was 16 hours ago from now

but why don't proton use flatpak, remind the question
