There aren't even 2.9billion people in the US.

I think that's an interesting way to look at it. I find it easier to do the mental gymnastics, as you call it.

Real talk, is there some benefit to an analog clock that would prevent them from all being replaced by digital ones? Being able to know exactly the time in a moment's glance seems better to me.

They're certainly not better looking than a digital one, considering most of the ones used in schools are just the cheapest and most basic version they can get.

Power requirements maybe? Longevity?

That's fine, your moral superiority has been established. Hope you enjoy the view atop that high horse.

There it is, the standard lemmy-tier moral superiority post.

You know nothing about this person or the context of this photo. Someone using their picture as an example of dirty clothes and the look of someone who is homeless isn't going to make their life worse.

I have the Aerox 3 and I really like the mouse.

I really don't like their software. Why can't I see the battery level in percentage? Who wants to guess??

Anticheat will have to just come from other methods that people will also hate.

Imagine, for example, if they required a form of government issued ID and the account was tied to you specifically. Despite privacy nightmare that it is (plus other issues, especially around globally accessed games), bans would have significantly larger impact if they're tied to a real-world identity.

That's actually good context that the article doesn't mention. Certainly very concerning.

This seems like a run of the mill news attempt at controversy for attention. None of the "controversies" mentioned are particularly egregious. I don't think Mr beast needs me to defend him but the reactions to this seem way more extreme than the problems themselves.

How many of us know all of our friends and colleagues well ebough to know every dirty secret they have? If one of my friends were a pedophile but kept it well hidden, how am I to be held responsible for their actions when I didn't know?

An inexperienced production crew doesn't provide the best working conditions for a reality and stunt show? Color me surprised. Television has had shows that put people in danger for years, even from very experienced crews.

I know just about every one of us likely did or said something that was really, really stupid when we were teens. Turns out teenagers don't have fully developed brains and don't make the best decisions. Holding someone accountable for saying something dumb as a child, that they have publically apologized for later, seems like people going out of their way to find fault.

How is every scene of them trying to break something turn into whatever they're using just bouncing off the object?

Not to mention that the moment the H in Healthcare is mentioned the price just increased a signifanct amount.

Not only are there signifanct legislative restrictions but also everything is just expensive when it comes to a hospital (barring things that are heavily subsidized, like diapers, for example).
