I skimmed through the section and simply assumed the worst, sorry about that. Still, it is closed source, so you just have to trust them, bro, and that's more often than not the wrong approach.

edit: Skimming a bit more, there actually seem to be some valid concerns around privacy, since TamperMonkey seems to have used (still uses?) google analytics, which is enabled by default, so take that as you will; see: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=26057106

TamperMonkey is closed source. I'd recommend ViolentMonkey instead, since it's open source and is practically identical to the other *Monkey extensions.

~~edit: To add, the developer of TamperMonkey has also shown themselves to be not worthy of trust; see Wikipedia under Controversy.~~

An excellent online and open-source version of minesweeper. Notably, every game can be won with logic alone (no guessing needed).

I'd suggest playing this with the following settings to minimize tedium and maximize fun:

  • grid: evil
  • mode: autopilot (also, try with "normal" to see the difference)
  • punish guessing: on
  • subtract flags: on

You might want to give some sources for that claim.

This article from Time summarizes quite well my view of the issues related to attention span. This is certainly not limited to the likes of tiktok or twitter, but I think those can be considered as representing two of the worst platform formats for meaningful content.

Sure, there are those people, but that's not the point here. Lemmy doesn't enforce some arbitrary short length to its posts in an attempt to force the users to engage more with the platform instead of the actual content. The same cannot be said of tiktok or twitter, for example.

Hot take: let this brain rot format die already. If you cannot hold your attention for longer than a few minutes at a time, you might want to work on that instead of embracing it.

Elon's Death

For a brief moment, I was so excited... Rip deer.

Oh my... I though the big companies had a mutual understanding that throwing shit at each other is a huge no-no. There's enough shit to drown them all in it time and again, so this should be hilarious to watch unfold.

I didn't say it would be easy, but anything TSMC currently produces would likely find a new buyer even with no US customers, so in the short run the loser would not be TSMC. In the long run, it's pointless to speculate, since US would probably try to level Taiwan down rather than let China have the semiconductor sector to itself... Let's hope it doesn't come to that, though.

At least they are consistent, so I guess that's something...

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

Not really. China would just buy it all if given the chance and the US companies would be fucked, since TSMC is practically a monopoly within its field at the moment.

This reads like a desperate attempt at proving to investors that their "AI" is useful for handling factual information, with a hint of plain old corporate bribery to avoid further lawsuits from publishers. Grifters gonna grift, and all that.
