@[email protected] @[email protected] it's a striking bird for sure. Super distinctive and looks awesome in flight too. I know what you mean about the head...is it underwater is it behind the wing? [preening, so behind the wing]

@[email protected] Nice bit of detail often missed with human eye but visible with a camera.

More Robin (Eurasian). I should have gone to Sherwood Forrest while I was in Nottingham today then I could have captioned this Robin of Sherwood. Alas,
This is Robin of Attenborough

@old_[email protected] Though I li
ethe American Robin (thrush), I agree, our Robins (Old world flycatchers) are more beautiful.

@[email protected] I only saw this one. The Gadwalls and Tufted seemed most common today.

Robins are all in posing mode right now, so a great time to get close to the UK's national bird..

The maybe more Robin photos to follow, as I photographed at least 6 today.

Had a day off work to take my son to an interview in a village just south of Nottingham (UK). Had 3 hours to kill while he was doing his thing, so popped into Attenborough Nature Reserve (WLT) on a Grey old morning.

Here is a Northern Shoveler filtering the water in one of the many lakes.

I don't think I've seen the sun this November so far, and today was no different. Here is a Wren I managed to photograph. It was flitting around in a shrub about 15m from me.

@[email protected] thanks. Though we get them here, I am yet to photograph the elusive Firecrest. Goldcrests, though not too common are easier to find...

@[email protected] That's how it goes most of the time. This is the 2nd time in 2 years I've actually managed a half decent photo of one, usually I am the same as you. A flashing blue streak of colour in the far off background,

@[email protected] Thanks Jane. I watched this beast catch 3 fish in the space of 5 mins. Pretty efficient bird.
