Thank you!

I didn't realize that I wouldn't see that community from my BeeHaw account.. So I signed into LemmyWorld and, there we go..

I still don't have the federated universe thing down.

You're my dang hero of the dang day!

And, you're right, it doesn't seem all that active of a community, but hopefully growth will come with time. You just added one to their numbers, so it'll seep in and take root after a while.

Thanks, again.

And if not, is there enough interest in fishing to create a community? I've looked around a bit and haven't found any fishing threads. I'd have no clue as to how to go about setting up a community, much less find time to moderate something like that. But I'd really like a place to discuss fishing in different parts of the U.S. and around the world.

Very interesting article. Cheap land, sure. But, how's the fishing?

I used to love Erector Sets. And blending them with LEGO and junk parts to make shit that did "something." Now, I just work on diesels, drink whiskey and fish.

I used to use a tool called alien to make .rpm into .deb

I think it works on other package types as well.

There's a podcast called Fish Nerds that began long ago, more than ten years, now. It all started with a couple guys that decided to catch and eat every legal fish in New Hampshire. About 48 species, if I remember correctly. The host, Clay Groves, did catch and eat a sturgeon, although I'm not sure if it was in the original 48 fish or something he did later on, it's been a lot of years. But, the guy is absolutely helpful to the point of obsession, I believe. I think if you reached out to him, pretty sure it's fishnerds@gmail but, check that before writing, I could be wrong on the address, he'd be overjoyed to give you the best opinion I think you could get on this question. And it's a damn good podcast, too.

I do a lot of fishing for food, myself, so I'm really interested in what a sturgeon stroganoff would be like! Sounds fuckin wonderful to me!

Shoot the guy an email, or email it as a question to the pod, I think it would be a great mailbag question on a really interesting subject. And you'd be asking a guy that's okay as to eating fish. And the most notable fish eater and sustainability freak I can think of.

Kid I used to work with said:

"Hand me that torch. Can't be seized-up if it's dripping out in the floor."

Pressurized airline fitting was just straight whoopin his fuckin ass..

I think he wore sunglasses in the shop so he could never see the lightyear-wide greenhorn shitstain he left in his wake. Been three years and I still find one of his fuckups every now and again. His tech manual for every vehicle was the top two or three hits on SploogeToob...

He'd definitely have that lid, the container it's in and everything else in the lab turned to pure watery shit by now.. "What do ya mean it's contaminated? I used a thousand dollar MATCO grinder??!!"

Oddly enough, I miss that little motherfucker every now and again. He was definitely entertaining.

Yeah, you know he drove a fuckin Miata. Convertible..

Bob kinda wanted the beginner to be proud of being able to relatively recreate what he was doing with a severely truncated set of tools... good critique. Pretty fuckin close, for a painter, eh,

I didn't know it was the off-season! Didn't have a secret.. Fuck, still don't. I Didn't fuckin know!

Maybe I'd have a better story if I had. Not that I don't have some trespassing, poaching, shitty-fisher stories..

Because, I do.

When young; only the art of the catch mattered.. Later in life, the quality creeps in.. and it fucks shit up.. And it seems that the investment should represent the yield.. (it doesn't) So much fuckin bullshit.. It really doesn't in fishing.

...

That trout..

She'd already hit me, earlier that day..

Even before I'd caught that fish that day... She had hit a different lure.. I threw at her, she took that fucking little bait... She bowed me over, breached, and threw that lure a long ways away from her...

But... She HIT!

She was hungry!

Fuckin Knew I had her ass, then!!

And I had the worst case of The Fever I've ever had! Fucking shaking with anticipation! Having been soo fucking close and then she threw my bait..

Getting crushed and sticking with it means something in fishing..

I knew I had something aggressive in my pocket, though.. Excessive vibration.. Excessive movement.. Plenty of fucking hooks.. So I strapped that shit on and threw it just out of her reach... Reeling it in before she could get to it..

And then did that again.. but just a fucking tad closer..

And again..

And again.

And again

But, finally, just close enough.

...

She attacked..

Her.., nor I, let up..

That fight was ON!

Wish that day in my life was every single fuckin day of my life.

...

But, the secret of an illegal fish on an illegal day? That has never crossed my mind, until you just mentioned it..

But, there's somethin in it, maybe..

I was just fishing. Fuck, I still am.

When that Fever hits you. You'll do shit you wouldn't normally do.

I understand that.

She was a beautiful 7-plus pound rainbow trout that I caught from a fairly small creek beside my house, on a little ultralight setup I had as a teenager. (Very light line, very small baits. Very under-strength for a fish that size. ) Hands down the best fight I've ever had with a fish my whole damn life. Unbeknownst to me it was during the off-season.. (A two-week span at the end of winter when trout were off limits at the time.) My Dad flipped out when I came home carrying that monster! Being off-season, I couldn't get her certified of course. But I'll never forget the long, delicate struggle with getting that fish landed! It was fucking thrilling! Most active, acrobatic fish I've ever tangled with. Guess I've been chasing that battle ever since. I've caught bigger and many many more, since then, but nothing compares to the fight she gave me that cold winter day on that little rig.

BunsenLabs was my favorite Linux distro back in the day. For years I've kept some of their old config files, &c.. To use on my own version. But more and more they've become broken as things progress ever onward. I was just wondering if anyone knows what happened with them and if they may have moved on to other similar projects?
