I definitely have some level of fault, at least in terms of not being hypervigilant enough to have seen this coming, and for allowing things to spiral as far as they did.
We're gonna get through this, and I think the site will be better for it!

Good post!
Our intention was and still is to reduce the aspects of the site that have kept other users, and minority users in particular, from feeling that same level of comfort and safety that we do.
Eliminating bigotry is a tough and ongoing process. We can't just handle it by banning people indiscriminately, it's going to be a multi-faceted overhaul. I want to be transparent about this upfront, so I think it's important to clarify that there will be some changes to some communities and the COC related to this, but obviously I'll chat about it with all of you a little later. I think we all need a little bit of time to cool down given how fast and confusing the last few days have been.
I genuinely care a lot about all of the posters here, and I want us to be a warmer, more comfortable, and more positive site. It's going to take all of us users pulling in the same direction to achieve this, and I'm looking forward to working together with all of you to improve things.
There has never been any intention of changing our reputation with other instances by doing this.
The tank comms won't exactly be getting restored, as the names have racist origins. Changing these names was a primary goal of the recent changes.
I'm still working on getting everything together and name voting is ongoing. For now please feel welcome to use c/gossip as you would have used the dunk tank, and c/counterpropaganda as you would have used the dredge tank!
Just keep doing what you're doing! The site isn't going anywhere.
Yep! I'm already working on this for a future update.
This got blown so far out of proportion, I can't believe it. (Actually yes I can) like 95% of this has been a misunderstanding.
We're in total agreement on this one. TC69 will not be returning as an admin. We don't approve of petty admin actions, and a lot of the slowness in our communication has been due to us working on just getting everything back under control, undoing things, and establishing methods to prevent this sort of thing from happening in the future.
She may be allowed to return as a user after doing some self-crit. We'll just have to see what the future holds in that regard, I guess.
Glad to have you back, REgon! Sorry we didn't restore you sooner, but we were kind of working on the fly pretty late last night and felt that a timeout was actually deserved for the situation with blight and with others to a lesser degree.
The original ban wasn't called for, but a shorter temp ban was seen as justified to let things cool off for a bit. Nevertheless, happy to see you're back and well and I hope the run was nice!
c/slamjam for all your basketball/space jam related shitposting needs, opening April 1, 20XX.
(This is a joke, but if anyone wants this, they're more than welcome to put in a request in c/commrequest!)
I know how you feel. I was on a short mental health break and I had to come back to put a fire out.
Don't even get me started. I agree with you 100% on this one, I have long been dismayed at the quantity and degree of troubling actions that certain users including Melina have been permitted to take without recourse over such a long time frame.
I'm happy to be closing the book on this one, and will be on the watch for other longstanding troublemakers.
We're chasing down more leads, don't worry, we haven't given up on it yet.
I like the taglines, too. I do want to save them, but I want to see if there's anything we can do to make them less disorientating (so many of them take up like 200% of your screen area on mobile and you have to scroll through a ton of unhinged texts before you even see anything that resembles a website.
