In der Affäre um eine russische Einflussoperation in mehreren EU-Staaten rückt zunehmend die AfD in den Fokus. Nach Recherchen des SPIEGEL und der tschechischen Tageszeitung »Deník N« verdächtigen westliche Geheimdienste unter anderem den AfD-Bundestagsabgeordneten und Kandidaten für die Europawahl, Petr Bystron, Geld aus einem prorussischen Netzwerk erhalten zu haben. Er selbst spricht von »Verleumdung«.

Laut der tschechischen Tageszeitung »Deník« sollen Politiker aus sechs europäischen Ländern von dem russischen Netzwerk bezahlt worden sein. »Konkret handelt es sich um Politiker aus Deutschland, Frankreich, Polen, Belgien, den Niederlanden und Ungarn«, schreibt die Zeitung mit Verweis auf Informationen aus Geheimdienstkreisen. Ausdrücklich wird auch die AfD aus Deutschland genannt, allerdings keine Namen einzelner Politiker.
