I was able to work out the issue, but it might be of interest to you.

You can log in either with your username or email address. Either worked fine to login via the Connect app.

However, for some reason, when I had my lemmy.world account setup with my email address as the login, it caused issues switching back to the account once I switched away. The only way to go back to it was to sign out and then add the account again.

So I reset the app and set up both accounts with the login as my username instead of my signup email. Now I can freely switch between accounts.

Yeah, I'm normally on lemmy.world but I had to sign-up to a second smaller instance. You can still view ALL and see the rest, but it's soooo much quicker.

I guess that's the point of a federated system.

I notice the Samsung Gallery app on my S23 Ultra is crazy good at erasing stuff like text on images.

Yep, same approach I'm taking.

For now browsing all is a good starting point. If I come across an interesting community while doing that, then I'll add it to my subscriptions.

As things grow, I'll switch more to browsing my subscribed communities.
