I’m actually a little surprised that my hot take got so much hate… I inferred was there are multiple reasons that people don’t bath. I posed this as an or… as an alternative. I didn’t suggest depression isn’t a reason.

I am friends with a lot of hippy-archetypical folks… and many of them don’t do the bathing/deodorant thing with the frequency that’s commonly expected by the majority. Just saying they choose to be au natural… and maybe that’s ok.

Is this a complete the sentence situation?

… I’d have at least a dollar!

What do you think of their redesign? I’m sure it’s not for everyone.

Add Mercedes to that list of companies close to doing this

I was hoping for a “war never changes” moment, but it’s a slow thing, and this was short. In my mind they were right to leave it out. I’ll be surprised if it’s not included in the actual series somewhere.

I hear ya - I’m recommending 1440p ultrawide, so the scaling will be the same as the other displays you are seeking.

I was like you and didn’t like curved TVs… but I have ultra wide curved displays at home/work, and this use case is awesome! Every part of the screen is about the same distance from my eyes. A typical 34” (3440x1440) is about the same pixel count as 2.5 1080p displays, but with no bezels to split the screen… so it’s perfectly centered. With separate displays I need to center one and set one way off to the side, or center the bezel split and need to always turn my head one way or the other. Webcam is centered. Cable management is easier (one power, one signal). Brackets are less bulky. Desk is cleaner looking.

You’ll get a little less area than 2x 27” 1440p displays.

I don’t know how important HDR is to you. I’ve always had good luck with Dell ultrasharp longevity. They have a 34” for $350.

From the article (I am not the author)

Only Watch is a huge deal in the world of watches. You are completely forgiven if you haven’t heard of it, as it’s a charity event that happens only every other year and this is only it’s tenth edition this year. Started in 2005 it was a way to raise funds for research on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Since then, it has become a milestone event in the watch world, as pretty much every relevant name in the industry contributes a unique timepiece - hence the name Only Watch - to be auctioned off. And they bring some crazy pieces - in 2019, a Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime Ref. 6300A sold for CHF 31 million.

The last auction raised CHF 30 million with only 53 watches for sale. This year, there are 62 watches going up for auction and I’m going to do something crazy - here’a list of all 62 of them. In alphabetical order.

The search tab icon is on the complete opposite end of the screen from the search text entry field. Engaging with search requires tapping the bottom most area, then the top most area, then back to the bottom keyboard area. It’s slow and clumsy.

Tapping the search tab icon once already brings the user to the search interface. Tapping the tab icon a second time while already on the tab should bring the search text entry field into focus so the user can start typing. See IMDb app for a live demo.

When a post contains an album of multiple images, I can only see the first image in Memmy, but I can confirm via the web that the post contains multiple images.

I haven’t seen anyone else complain about this - am I missing how to do this? Do others not care, or not realize there are multiple images?

Example post that in Memmy shows one image, but the web shows two.

I change out my switches frequently, and I’m looking for a tool that’s better than the free ones I’ve received over the years. Something that is robust, less likely to bend or break, is comfortable to use, and does a good job. Extra points if it’s cool looking, or comes in orange.

Comparing to Apollo, the haptic feedback in Memmy is more intense when taking action like voting. Apollo gives you just enough to know you’ve taken action, and Memmy feels like someone is flicking my phone with their finger.

If I had to guess, I’d say Apollo is soft and light, and Memmy is heavy and rigid. [https://developer.apple.com/design/human-interface-guidelines/playing-haptics](Apple’s HIG for Taptic Engine for reference.)

For me, the difference is at worst mildly unpleasant feeling, but I also use the app before getting out of bed in the morning, and the Memmy haptic audibly resonates through my mattress and has woken up my wife. She is admittedly a light sleeper! I think there’s also a trivial impact to battery.

I propose that this be dialed back in Memmy to levels similar to Apollo, except perhaps when you’ve transitioned to slide to downvote. I could still envision it being useful there.

Werd!

In the top comment of another post I learned that there’s a way to buy our beneficent app dev a coffee (or 10).

I don’t mean to pressure anyone to donate, but I personally have found this app to be crucial in my lemmy patronage, which is in turn crucial in my ditching of Reddit… so I had been looking for this, and thought others might be too.
