Just because something is illegal doesn't mean it's not practiced (see Whittaker Family). It's also not illegal in some European countries and in the US there are three states that legally allow this type of incest (brother&sister) Ohio, New Jersey, and Rhode Island.
Somehow this inspired me to whip this up real quick.

In the meantime, while I understand may not be ideal for everyone, users who choose to participate on the beehaw instance will be required to register a separate account on their instance.
Might I also suggest alternatives such as lemmy.blahaj.zone which is open to anyone to register without explanation as long as, y'know, you're not an asshole. Though it sounds like beehaw might block them in the future given their stance, but for now they're federated.

The use of spider-man is just for the meme, I don't really consider them the good guys.
I am biased in this situation, but I just think leaving it to the individual to block specific communities is better than blocking an entire instance for every user.

The instance feels a lot more active and I noticed the user count went from ~900 at the start of open to 1.8k now. I like having open registration over approval as long as it's not straining the servers or something.
