Hilariously VLC will happily skip the "unskippable" ads on DVDs

I honestly love the new nested replies in email chains they added to the inbox view a few months ago. It makes a messy inbox so much less messy looking

time to replace him was two years ago

The worst part is he could've simply said "I'm too old for this shit! I've personally selected <insert spry 40-something slightly edgy but in a "safe" way pick here> to run for president in 2024 in my place" then put his full force behind the candidate.

For those dark pattern email boxes I like entering things like admin@[website that's serving a dark pattern mailbox] or marketing@website because 50% of the time it just gives me whatever without any trouble and the other 50% of the time I clear cookies and consider if I really need whatever they're gating behind harvesting my email...

I'm going to have to whip that one out in a work meeting one of these days. I know a few people will love it and a few people will love to hate it...

Both of my cats came from my inlaws farm where they're fed but largely not socialized. They both needed to learn that humans are worth keeping around and give good pets and rubs.

Best part is, the cats that came from the farm are great at killing the couple of mice that make it into the house in the fall when it starts getting cold, so we don't have the mouse problem we might otherwise find ourselves with

Honestly that can be a good thing, especially if you have more than one windows PC in your household, it's only downloading them once then sharing the updates about over the LAN

I acquired an ewaste laptop with a 5+ year old Celeron, 4GM of RAM and a spinning rust drive. I tossed mint on there after fighting with Windows update to try to apply 3 years worth of updates and while the installer took 2 hours to complete, it actually is a bit more usable and once it's booted it's amusingly chirpy with random slowdowns whenever it has to hit the disc for data.

I might set it up as my daughter's first computer. She's getting to that age already so it's about time to do it

The employment market is super tight right now. A year ago I was freshly graduated after returning to college and landed multiple interviews as well as fending off headhunters on about a weekly basis. I applied to 9 openings and got 6 calls to interview, and made it to the final round of interviews for 3 roles in a 1 month timeframe. Now I'm fighting just to get an interview for the purposes of interview experience and potentially jumping ship if the offer is right, and I'm getting ghosted by the couple of recruiters who have reached out in the last few months. A friend's boyfriend is job hunting after getting laid off from his last job and hasn't been able to land a job in months, and another friend landed a job with an insane commute after her position was suddenly no longer needed. Even my old boss who I see at community events regularly and has been begging me to come back and throwing comparatively generous offers out there hasn't brought it up in a few months. Shit's rough yo

Look through the thread and you will see people showing their work and coming up with similar numbers.

I've not seen anyone so far in this thread quoting 40% taxes. Looking at

I just pulled my paystub (single income household) and I'm at 37% of income going to taxes and full benefits (including 7% to my 401k) covering my whole family while not making much more than the OP
