That's good; the manga didn't move especially quickly and I didn't think this story could leave a strong impression in only 12 episodes.

The part of your workday that you’re most likely to die during is your commute, especially if you drive, which is not covered by DoL or OSHA.

FWIW this is because of DoL and OSHA making sure that once you get to work they have to keep you reasonably safe. This was not always the case in the past.

Thanks for the explanation! Does this apply only to anime or does it also apply to manga?

Read the first 6 chapters of NO\NAME! This one was pretty cool. People receive powers based off their names. Our protagonists are name cops investigating a string of murders.

Read some Sailor Moon. I'm almost halfway through (roughly corresponding with the early episodes of Sailor Moon S), and what's struck me hardest about it is just how different the manga feels due to the absence of all the filler I'm used to from watching the anime. On the one hand, it's mostly great! It's like watching the anime, but only with the parts where things actually happen! On the other hand, I'm realizing that most of the characterization of the sailor scouts (aside from Sailor Moon herself) came from those filler episodes. Overall it feels like they have a little less personality in the manga as a result.

Finished Jujutsu Kaisen. It was overall good, but in the end the author cared way too much about his power system and not enough about the characters. One of the few epilogue chapters was dedicated almost entirely to ramblings about simple domain that nobody really cared about at that point for example.

I played the demo of this game during Next Fest. It had stunning visuals, but the gameplay didn't really grab me.

They still make some incredibly cool Transformers toys, as long as you have enormous piles of money to pay for them with.

I can't really say whether the new one is better or worse than the old, but I think it's probably worth watching for a Spice and Wolf fan. My impression is that the execution was pretty good; most of my hangups have to do with fundamental writing choices that would probably be in both versions of the show. It's not like re-makes are always bad; just look at Fullmetal Alchemist!

I watched a few shows:

  • Elusive Samurai - This has been my favorite so far. The animation and general art direction has been incredible, and the characters have been fun.
  • Shikanokonokonokokoshitantan - It was fine. I dunno, past the first episode or two I didn't feel like the jokes always landed.
  • Spice and Wolf - It was good, but not quite as excellent as I'd heard. Lawrence can be kind of an idiot sometimes, and wow is Holo an asshole.
  • Konosuba S3 - If you liked the first two seasons of Konosuba, this is more of that at about the same level of quality. The jokes land really well when they're not about sexual harassment. Want to guess what lots of the jokes are about though?

Sounds like it'll be well worth the watch then! Now to somehow forget about this until it's closer to actually airing...

It hurts me soul to see something like Fairy Tail beating The Elusive Samurai. I'm surprised enough people still care about that show to watch it.

So far it's been the following:

  • Bang Brave Bang Bravern - Big gay robots. Hilarious show.
  • Skip and Loafer - Succeeds more than any anime I've seen at making the characters feel like people.
  • Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken - Fun story about making anime.
  • Vivy -Fluorite Eye's Song- - The only "robots rebel against humanity" anime I've ever liked.
  • ODDTAXI - An excellent story about a guy who gets wrapped up in some shady dealings he'd rather avoid.

There's been some other great stuff too of course but I wouldn't say that anything else I've seen that's been released since 2020 has been ~~overrated~~ underrated.

As for worst it's gonna be hard to beat The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel - Northern War and Ex-Arm.

I use apps that aren't available in my region for language study, so this could end up being a real problem for me.
