Bad news: Mark forgot to include Gus's boyfriend in his rescue

Good news: So did the rest of the gang!

Someone's gonna have to tell this Hunter about our Belos though. Just look at that face, no way he could handle that!

It's the Boiling Isles, spontaneous combustion can't be that uncommon, right??

So what's the over-under on this actually being canon to Mark's comics?

I think not, but that's also what I thought about Hexsquad's hero suits until suddenly they showed up in both main storylines

If you ask me, it was such a dumb idea to ban the thing that made me rich

It would be so useful for taking advantage of all these money-making opportunities I've been witnessing

I don't know how I didn't notice it when I was filling out the sidebar (the account was made 2022), but you can follow Everybody's Favourite Matt Gray™ from any fediverse platform that let's you follow users (so not Lemmy) at @[email protected]. He also has a few others, you can see them all at https://mattg.co.uk/

As for the others, Tom's Masto is still parked (but the pfp was updated to his new branding). Gary Brennan also has a parked Mastodon account and I can't find anything for Chris Joel

WYR: Fly low or jump high (self.wouldyourather)

You can fly at a height of up to 6ft/2m above the ground. You can propel yourself in any direction midair, expending energy at the same rate as the corresponding running speed, but without straining any muscles (so you will be tired but not sore). You will be fully subjected to drag and will be based on air speed, not ground speed. That means you could coast along all day at 20mph/30kmh in a strong tailwind, or get thrown backwards by a strong headwind.

OR

You can jump up to 30ft/9m high. You will also be able to comfortably land from that height. Jumping higher will require more work from your legs, and the highest jumps will leave your legs immediately quite sore. You will have control over how high you jump. You're not gonna be immobilized, but you are gonna feel it for the rest of the day. This only benefits your vertical, your horizontal will only be affected by increased air time to travel forward at the same speed as before (you'll be moving longer, not faster).

Lateral Book

A new Lateral game book is now available for pre-order, slated for release on November 14th!

We are delighted to announce that the new Lateral game book is now available for pre-order!

100 questions, most of which are brand new, exclusive to the book, and will never appear on the show. Plus there's the best of the questions from the show itself, to play by yourself or with a group. It's great for meet-ups with friends, game nights, road trips and family gatherings.

Each question has all the official clues and background notes — all the stuff that‘s on the question cards but doesn‘t always make it into the show. Plus, there are warm-up questions and bonus articles.

Also, Tom‘s played all the new questions himself, so you can see if you can beat him.

Pre-orders count towards our first week sales which are super important in the publishing trade.

As of writing this post, pre-orders are only available for the UK edition, but editions for the US and rest of the world are also in the works ("coming soon"). Check the website for all the links and latest info

Lateral Live Show

There will be a live recording of an episode of Lateral in London on October 12th! Specifically at The Clapham Grand at 12:30 PM BST as part of Cheerful Earful Podcast Festival. There will also be opportunities to buy copies of the book early

You can buy tickets at https://lateralcast.com/live/

In celebration, Cambridge has dedicated today's Word of the Day to be "adorkable" *

Screenshot of Cambridge Dictionary's Word of the Day: adorkable, defined as "(of a person or a thing) socially awkward or not fashionable, but in a way that makes you love or like it or them"

* (Disclaimer: there's no evidence this was actually intentional, but it seemed really fitting nonetheless)
