Was at a brewery last night where the "bathroom" was a row of sinks, and then a row of doors labeled "sit" or "stand". The commode cubicles were full length walls and doors, totally private, and this just makes so much more sense to me

Because the security of Diego Garcia is that much easier to enforce when only the people you have vetted are allowed to be there. If no one lives on the islands, then any unidentified boat is an obvious security threat. But with the islands inhabited, that boat could just be a local fisherman slightly off course.

Also, it's a lot easier to do sketchy shit in your top secret military base in the middle of the ocean if there's no one within ~1000 miles that isn't already involved.

Depends on the phase of construction. The pressure hull will be fully complete before being floated for the first time, with most (if not all) systems installed. But there still may be operational testing, training, etc. going on that is part of the construction process. Those types of things can take place waterborne (and in some cases are required to), which frees up space for construction of the next hull to begin.

I see where you're coming from on it being AI generated, but I think it's actually the wings and canards from a second plane perfectly behind the front one. If you look closely, you can see the nose as well.

The actual quantity of radioactive waste generated is tiny, and even combining the storage space for waste products with the footprint of the reactor plant itself, nuclear is by far the most energy-dense and space-efficient form of power generation we have.

Baseball cap at a baseball game over the weekend, or a hard hat at work last night, depending if you count that as a hat

Even if someone has used it only once, even if they just tried it, they are ineligible for military service.

Well that's just false. You'll get denied if you pop hot on a drug test at MEPS, but they don't tend to care if you've smoked in the past, except as a barometer for if you'll smoke in the future. And, like almost everything else in the DoD, there's a waiver form you can fill out for it too

Yeah...this honestly just makes me want to vote for her more

This is about bugging people to work when they are off the clock.

And that's exactly what Kevin is advocating for. He wants the benefits of an on-call team without having to pay for an on-call team.

Ordinarily, I might agree. However, this suspension is because musk refused to appoint a legal representative for the company in Brazil, IAW Brazilian law. That's a reasonable ask for a company that's actively doing business in the country. If a billionaire* crybaby refuses to follow the law, then he gets to deal with the consequences. FA meet FO.

If you are in an industry where an emergency at 2 am cannot wait until 0900 (or whenever shift starts in the morning), fucking pay a swing shift to be there. Or fairly compensate your employees for calls off the clock. Either way, stop expecting free labor from your employees. And if your business can't afford to exist without fairly compensating those who work for it, then your business should not exist.

There are so many gems in this one, least of which are the bathrooms.
