Ich studiere Deutsche Sprache und verstehe dieses Bild nicht. Was ist der Witz?

That scene with robots trying to get into the Infinity is basically copy-pasted from The Matrix (a homage, whatever you want to call it). Even the weird electrical pylons on the Infinity look like Nebuchadnezzar and other ships in The Matrix.

Rumpelstielchen looks like Andy Serkis to me.

I assume this will have to be a streaming service, as opposed to a download service for various reasons. Here are some points related to it:

  1. Skype (the video/voice call and chat application) used to be federated in a similar way on desktops until late 2000s. Users with available bandwidth were treated as nodes. People even reported, that sometimes, whenever Internet wasn't working, Skype was the only thing that continued to work โ€” because someone on the same network was a node at the time and their Internet was working.

This all broke down due to the advent of mobile devices. Phones cannot be used as such nodes for traffic. Nobody was going to put up with Skype draining both your data (if your tariff/contract has data limit) and your phone battery. This feature of Skype is long gone now.

Similarly, too many people are using Spotify on the go. People would have to pay way more for using such a "torrented" service via phone apps.

  2. The different nodes in such network will have vastly different bandwidth, which makes it more complicated to maintain a consistent stream (i.e. with not buffering, stuttering, etc). Regular BitTorrent downloads don't care, because they usually aren't streamed. However, it's possible to make BitTorrent downloads more favorable to streaming the content by forcing downloads of chunks of files in order.

  3. The nodes in such service need to manage bandwidth for obvious reasons. They would also need to manage storage โ€“ the music, the audiobooks, and the podcasts need to be stored somewhere. Also, the nodes would need to manage CPU (or GPU or whatever) for encoding/reencoding/whatever. Managing resources (using them, allocating, throttling, deallocating) on a computer that you don't control is extremely hard, which is an additional layer of complexity. It is even hard on computers that you do control (this video explains why).

  4. Apparently podcast apps Juice and Miro support BitTorrent, but I don't know anything about it. They download the whole thing, i.e. don't stream, as far as I can tell.

Osyraa, as she was rejected by Vance (Disco, calling out hypocrisy)
Christopher, the crystal grasped firmly (Disco again, duty in the face of suffering)

I haven't watched last season of Discovery, so I forget what these are referencing.

Solum, the wormhole collapsing (Prodigy, defiance in the face of insurmountable odds)
Una and Spock, together on the turbolift (Short Treks, the sharing of embarassing personal secrets)
Laโ€™an, as she stares at her watch (SNW, despair from holding in a secret)

Love it. I should have though of SNW phrases myself. There's also one about Ortegas:

Ortegas, I drive the ship! - That fulfilling feeling from knowing your purpose in life.

Thank you. I've edited the original post.

Nice. How do you understand this one? Simply "embarrassment"?

Mariner, daggers seeking her shoulder.

I like this one, could just mean "a running gag".

Oโ€™Brien, his suffering unending.
Shaw, his response negative.

What would these two mean? There isn't much of a metaphor, both seem too literal to me.

Tamarian language has a number of in-universe phrases, with "Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra", "Sokath, his eyes open", and "Shaka, when the walls fell" being probably the most popular.

Which phrases would be in the language, if Star Trek was used the source for myths and metaphors? Here are a couple of examples that I've either seen somewhere else or came up with myself.

  • "Sisko, his plan thwarted." โ€“ when something is fake (scene from "In the Pale Moonlight").
  • ~~"Q's present to Data"~~ "Q's gift to Data" โ€“ laughter (from this scene)
  • A bunch from the root beer scene in DS9 (a favorite of mine):
    • "Quark's Kanar" โ€“ useless merchandise
    • "Garak drinks root beer" โ€“ disgust
    • "Quark and his cousin's moon" โ€“ envy
  • "Pulaski calling Data" โ€“ mispronunciation (scene)
  • "Kira Nerys and pottery" โ€“ about a vocation or a hobby that is imposed on a person (from her D'jarra in DS9 episode "Accession")
  • "Picard's four lights" โ€“ resiliency under pressure/torture (scene)
  • "Data is fully functional" โ€“ sexual proficiency (scene)
  • "Lieutenant junior grade Picard" โ€“ lack of ambition (TNG episode "Tapestry")

What do you think of these? I'd love to hear more examples. I'd also appreciate improvements in wording, because some of the above are pretty awkward.

I am confused. Where are the first two panels from? I don't remember Tamarians appearing in DS9.

Now that Tโ€™lyn is here my only question is why it took until the 4th season for someone like her to show up.

I guess it's because of shorter running time => less time for supporting characters.

Reed Birney's acting is great. His soft voice is very touching.

โ€“ Be in the moment with me.

โ€“ We look out for each other. Every night we have our forgetting.

โ€“ You are guided by your emotions. They are your truth. I find them convincing. The totem teaches that we live in each moment, embrace them.
