The first Time Trial of the Tour.

Evenepoel should be the main favorite, but Pogacar did some serious performances at the Giro, and Vingegaard on past Tours has dominated the discipline.

The difference between Pogacar and Vingegaard could shape the Tour. If the later is able to recover time, it will be interesting, but if Pogacar gains even more time, the Tour could be almost over.

Cicone starts at 16.44 and with two minutes between them until Pogacar starts at 17.00

It was an impressive performance, but still he only took a few seconds on the Galibier. It was significant however, that Vingegaard lost more time on the descent, he didn't look so strong.

But the Tour is long, Vingegaard can improve his performance and Pogacar feel the fatigue from the Giro. Or Vingegaard can miss the training he should have done, we'll have to wait.

Last year started in a similar way, with Vingegaard stealing a few seconds to Pogacar on the pirinees, and then he was even stronger. And Pogacar has been able to leave Vingegaard a few seconds behind on multiple occasions with his powerful rithm change.

I don't know what to think yet about those two.

Remco did better than I expected. Rodriguez was on par and Roglic a bit worse than I hoped.

Visma as a team failed, while UAE was impressive (maybe too impressive). Landa was very good also for his team.

The rest only can hope someone to fail to enter the top-10 and/or fight for stages.

(How will this comment age until the end of the race?)

After the opening weekend's hilly stages and yesterday flat one, the race has today a hard mountain stage.

3900 meters of climbing and they will go above 2000m (they will climb up to 2627m on the Galibier).

Pogacar should test Vingegaard, and it could be too much climbing for Remco.

But, even with the precious climbing data, the slopes may not be hard enough to make differences. They should go full gas the whole climb and some riders can break when surpassing the 2000m mark.

Also the first yellow jersey for Ecuador

What a exciting resolution of the stage. Both, for the stage and for the GC.

But it was just a 2km climb, so no conclusions can be drawn from here, except for the ambition of the riders. Next step the very long climb of the Galibier, I wonder if it will be hard enough.

Tomorrow a flat stage, I want to see an sprint, but I dislike how the peloton allows 3-4 low profile riders to go without competition .

It could have been, but they lost it.

The winer is on the break. Will any of the GC contenders attack on the last climb?

I expected more fight for the break. The peloton let them go, and it is good for the leader also because the best riders on the GC are 15 minutes behind.

I still hope that it could have a thrilling finale.

Second stage of the tour, two hard climbs for the sprinters in the last 30km.

I expect another stage like yesterday's, but with more puncheur riders than climbers. DSM will try to keep Bardet's jersey.

If he is in good shape maybe Van Aert could win, also Pedersen. Too hard for Van Der Poel. And we always have Pogacar.

Very good stage.

I like this stages for starting the Tour, a lot of riders are aware that it is not for them and is less likely to see accidents in the peloton.

Now I'm in serious doubt about the pack's chances. The DSM duo is doing very good, if they manage to keep their gap on this climb, they maybe arrive with enough time to the finish.

Now, after some kilometers with UAE in front Visma has taken the lead. Will this mean that Vingegaard is in a good shape? Or they are playing mind games to soften Pogacar?

Is embarrassing to see a professional rider like this. He should have retired years ago.

He had two blank years in 2019 and 2020, until the magic from Lefevre made him win 4 stages in the Tour. It was so weird that it wasn't selected for the next Tour.

It has been a god start, with a competitive breakaway .

But the win is still on the peloton. It will be a good fight.

For another year is time for the Tour to start.

This start is a hard stage, maybe we we'll see some GC contenders playing (I dream). Anyway it would be interesting.

Let's commented here how the stage is going.

For those who cannot watch it procyclingstats.com is a good place to follow.

Bienvenues à le Tour

As far as I would like to see Rigloc on the tip spot in Paris, I believe that Jonas is the only alternative to Pogacar. But we'll have to wait at least until Galibier to assess his recovery, and even if he performs well, it would not mean that he can compete all the tour.

I don't see Evenepoel as an actual GC contender, he won a not very contended Vuelta, but he has not proven good enough in other races, specially on the greatest mountains.

I have some confidence on Roglic, I would say that he is a bit below Jonas and Tadej, but he is very competitive and he knows his abilities very well. This year he has focused on the tour and it seems that he is ready.

Also, I like C Rodriguez and Jorgenson, but I think that they stull need another steep up to be able to win the Tour. Anyway, you never know what Visma can do.

For the rest, there are some solid top-10 contenders.

But in the end everything will depend on the recovery of Pogacar from the efforts he made at the Giro and the form of Vingegaard.

Let's hope to be an entertaining race.

It is the best option, he has been a year without competing, and age is a factor too.

I don't think that he needs another top10, and traditionally, mountain stage hunters tend to finish quite high on the classification.

But he rides for Movistar, a team that values GC over anything else, and doesn't like to take risks.

A very good edition of the Paris Roubaix, with a great winner and a nice photograph of the rainbow jersey winning.

The last contenders were very high level too.

Now, the Ardennes for the girls. And tomorrow, is there any chance of the world champion not winning?

270km around Flandes in the first cobled monument of the season.

Pogacar, the winner of the 2023 edition is not present, neither it is Van Aert from the powerful Vidma - Lease a bike.

I hardly see a different outcome than a win from Mathiu Van der Poel. He knows the race perfectly. The last defeat against Mads Pedersen gives me some hopes though.

Jorgenson is in a great shape too.

How do you see it?

Enjoy the race whoever it wins.

Even when you like a cyclist is hard to see such races without any actual contenders.

It was nice, however, confirming the return of Bernal to the (almost) highest level (always below Jonas and Tadej), and the performance of Landa.

Let's see what the itzulia will show next week.

Unfortunately Won't Van Aert had fractured his collarbone and some ribs on the law Dwars door Vlaanderen.

It's specially sad this year, when it seemed free from his support role for Vingegaard in July.

I hope he'll recover fast and get deserved result in summer. Will this accident help him getting a good form for the Olympics?
