Thanks! The wings were the first thing I did, felt most comfortable for what I was going to do with them and how, having done similar for other daemons in my army. Knocked that out quick. I spent the rest of the paint time being indecisive on how to do the skin, heads, greebles, and ya know, everything. Repainted soooo many times while avoiding touching the wings with all might

If I were, would I know?

Ty! I picked up a brush for the first time ever last year, there’s an eternal pile of sick arts and crafts waiting for you to get back into

I wanted a lord of change for my thousand sons army cause big bird demon wizard is too cool not to include, but was told kairos is only 10 points more and better so I slapped on the second head. One day I’ll hopefully be able to try the game and figure it out for myself~

Nice to know, but it’ll really come down to VST support. I can relearn a new DAW, but I can’t magic up new libraries. I also don’t really wanna have to learn futzing with Linux when I have enough hobbies. As much as windows sucks, it’s convenient that their product supports everything I want out of the box. Once a Linux distro can do the same for my needs, I’m all in.

Not pictured; she spared herself the shame by having an actually good opener that referenced something in my bio

I met my fiancée on Bumble 4 years ago, but I also created this from my experience on the app:

Losing Ableton and all my VSTs are dealbreakers with Linux for me. Would be fine with the games I play, being all mostly single player indies. I could relearn a new video editing software, and I assume Citrix will work fine for all my work programs, but maaaan I’m not losing my favorite VSTs.

Ah man, perhaps I’ll revisit again. Thanks for your input!

At one point I had it as a super fleshy pink thinking that might sell it better, but ended up reverting it. Thought keeping the colors close would help me more. Maybe after sculpting some broken armor around it I’ll give that another shot

Ah that makes so much sense, hopefully I can sculpt something convincing, prime it, and glue it on. Thank you!

Looking at it, I feel like it kinda looks like I just slapped on random bits and milliput. I did, but I want it to look more purposeful/part of the piece.

I watched Midwinter Mini’s video for the nurgle land raider and used much of that for inspo. I really wanted the PVA+Superglue trick to work but it did not come out as nice for me. I thought about adding more and just not painting it, but a bit worried about slapping that on miiiight be too much?

If anyone has any advice to make it look more like a flesh change or parts erupting from the metal (or any other advice to elevate this) I would greatly appreciate the guidance.

3d printed the skeleton and glued it to some mdf board. Primed with wraithbone, and hit em with Agrax Earthshade.

Covered it in a layer of Vallejo earth texture, then mud technical paint patches in a few places. Spattered Elmer’s glue about, then looooots of army painter grass.

While that dried, I ordered mode train terrain trees, plants, and army painter underbrush. Glued that around, then hit the bones and rocks with Vallejo lichen randomly.

Thought it might be cool to hang vines and stuff from the ribs, but want to move on to the next project~

Did these in like 30 minutes each, super fun and soooo easy for painting noobs like me

Guess which ones were the impulse buys

Got into 40K last month and jumped right into Horus Heresy series using that handy reading order chart, wanted to get to Thousand Sons as fast as possible so I could learn about my army and read about the nothing Magnus allegedly did wrong.

Loken’s books were all a solid good time. A bit rushed feeling, book 2 stood out as a drop in quality. Horus felt less like a centuries old wizened war god amongst men and more like big dingus to make the plot happen, as if it couldn’t happen with a character who uses his brain. Book 3 and Eisenstein came back to the fun time.

Thousand Sons though is painfully bad. I’ve powered 60% through, normally I put down a book at 25% if I’m not feeling it and I reeeeaaaally wasn’t feeling it. Have to get through it for the dudes though. I don’t know the nothing he did wrong yet, but I’ll say he and his sons are definitely guilty of being the dumbest and most annoying self proclaimed “geniuses” in the galaxy. Not expecting Hugo Award level quality from this series, but a little effort would be nice.

So the question: which series among the heresy are the best and which are to avoid? Should I bother continuing 1K sons in hopes it improves, or switch to some other dudes?

Just got into 40K last month, trying to get a Mutalith Vortex Beast. Was gonna get one after my current batch was built and painted (and it is!) but in that time 10th dropped and made MVB meta, so there they all went.

Should I hold out and hopefully there will be a resupply online soon? Or move on to something else? None of my local shops have em either.
