@jaykay I'd actually like to see bots rip top posts from reddit to post to Lemmy, and the subreddits who would like to I would love to see them create their sister Lemmy instances and create an auto crosspost process. This way, they are keeping their subscribers happy and can make the transition whenever they feel like it if it really comes time to completely abandon ship... Which for me it is time!

@jaykay I'm learning more about the fediverse every day and it both amazes me and frustrates me in so many ways. I'm writing this reply via my Mastodon profile on Fosstodon to your Lemmy post. That alone is pretty amazing. The entire experience still needs a ton of smoothing, especially the instance selection, instance server support, cross platform support, and especially the entire onboarding process.

I've been lurking across Lemmy and kbin from my Mastodon account. I tested the ability to post to Lemmy via a toot and it definitely works, but there are some drawbacks. I could only reply to comments that were within Mastodon's character limit. I could see longer comments if I navigated to the web page for the Lemmy post, but could only interact with whatever showed up in my Mastodon notifications.
