The director was an amateur, and he didn't align the grains of sand with the grain of the film.

Sure, he gave permission for them to publish the paper about him. But, did he give them permission to address him solely as "48 year old obese man?"

It's an interesting movie. RiffTrax (it's a spinoff of Mystery Science Theater 3000) did a live episode on the movie, if that interests anyone.

I disagree two-fold. At least in the deep South where I'm from, the rise in popularity of the idea of the rapture did not cause Christians to be any less fervent in their rush to convert everyone else. It did not make the vast majority of them self-isolate at all. The author's viewpoint is likely affected by his parents making him live in a commune. Secondly, even if evangelicalism is moving in some new directions lately, I don't think the idea of the rapture is falling out of fashion at all. Christians have no problem with both thinking they should assist in bringing about the end of the world and also believing that the rapture can happen any second. As we all know, cognitive dissidence never bothered them anyway.

For some of them, it's not even cognitive dissonance. They believe certain things must happen before for the rapture can happen. Most of them believe these things have already happened or will soon™, though.

I do believe it's made with real orange, especially if you're get it from a street vendor near the beach. Been years since I had it.

Why isn't orange (the fruit) ice cream more popular? I don't mean sherbet, I mean ice cream. It can be bought in Florida, but I've never heard of it anywhere else.

"I wish I could control you like your father controls this ship!"

"You mean, have a mutiny on me, or...?"

Sir, a 17th Zorin OS has hit the download page.

I guess disabling full screen notifications for the phone app does work, but I kinda liked the full screen notifications when I'm driving.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago

Thanks, I'll check that out.

"had"

Were you able to make the alert stop?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I suppose I could try that. I was hoping for an easier solution.

The phone is really great other than this one annoying "feature," especially for the price.

Hello all!

My new phone (Moto G Stylus 5G 2024 running Android 14) keeps giving me this alert that an app is giving full screen notifications. The app in question is the freaking telephone app, which I of course want full screen notifications from! There's no option to disable the alert. (The two choices are "go to options" and "not now," by the way. And "go to options" takes you to the telephone app's notification settings.) I cannot seem to find a setting related to this, and I've disabled every Motorola app (including system apps) that I can find in the app list. Although, some of them don't allow disabling.

Anybody familiar with this by chance? I'm getting this stupid alert for every other phone call.

Thank you!

So far, I'm liking it. I rinsed it out before using, and there was trace amounts of blue ink already in the pen. Mysterious.

I filled it with Noodler's Heart of Darkness, and it writes very smoothly. Left it sitting overnight, and it continued writing smoothly this morning with no hiccups whatsoever. Very nice! It's supposed to be a "fine," but it really seems like more of a "medium" to me. It comes with a piston filling cartridge converter which didn't seem removable at first, but it just slides out if you pull on it a little.

I got it from AliExpress, if you're wondering. It will surely be available on eBay soon enough.

I tried to make my duplicate as different from the original as possible, but they fell in love anyway

I've tried to find them to no avail. I'm guessing the box sets just aren't made anymore, but I figured it's worth asking in case there's some obscure one out there somewhere.

To clarify, I'm looking for a more recent Linux version. I know the older ones can be found on auction sites and the like.

I remember finding them on the Internet somewhere in the early 2000s. I remember that Kimi was one of them, so it would have to have been after the second movie (Rugrats in Paris). Anybody remember these things? I can't find any details about them online.

A dice tray or a set of dice is an obvious and universal choice. Anybody have any more ideas? Thanks in advance.

When I am making a post or a comment through jerboa, I am having a weird issue where if I backspace/delete, the text of the word I'm writing will combine with the word before it.

As an example, if I type

The quick brown foz

And I backspace to fix the typo, I get this

The quick brownfo

If I keep backspacing to fix the problem, it keeps combining words like this

Thequickbrown

It's very annoying and sometimes I have to delete entire sentences and start over. Also, if I have a wall of text and click somewhere in the text to make an edit, sometimes it will keep typing where I was before. Also annoying.

Does anybody else have this issue? It could be a product of my keyboard, which is Open Board from F-Droid. But I usually only have issues like this when trying to type my information into websites that aren't designed for mobile. (Fennec, if it matters.)

I chose my instance 9 or so months ago purely because it was suggested by the Jerboa app at the time. In lieu of making numerous accounts to access communities that aren't federated with my instance, I was hoping to make a second account with a very "federated" instance. Any suggestions?

Despite being here for a while, I've mostly been a lurker til recently and haven't learned a lot. Thanks in advance.
