Using the exact number of cores I have as the argument (from /proc/cpuinfo) makes the compilation go smooth. Are you saying that without an argument, Make uses a very high default number that causes other processes to starve ? Nevertheless, kernel shouldnt allow such a situation as far as I understrand, and perhaps should be considered a bug in the kernel ?

Hi, I am building the Linux kernel, with the following make command to enable multi core compilation: make -j. This ends up freezing the system and eventually some applications get killed (I am using KDE). If I pass an argument to -j, then system compiles normally. However, full multi-core compilation is enabled when no argument is specified.

I am on Debian stable, kernel 6.1.0-13-amd64. Is there a way make system do full multi-core compilation without freezing the system?

I found that TCP Fast Open was removed in Firefox, while Chrome continues to have it. Does anyone have more info on why the devs decided to axe it ?

The ticket that removed the feature didn't have any explanation: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1689604

I'd say the company would improve their goodwill from pro-muslim community. Though I totally dont have any info on whether Hamas has the majority support from Kerala's muslim. Given their their other customers are also from Muslim majority countries, that works out for them

Thanks for finding this! I'll read this over and maybe chime in there if necessary

Thanks! At least I know what to search for now!

Hello Lemmiverse,

I'd like some suggestions for an open source software that I can use for managing some information about a community - to manage the member information and coordinate its activities.

A couple of my friends are planning to start an alumni association for our high school batch mates. I am looking for an open source software that I can use to manage contact information, events, announcements etc. Ideally I would like the following features:

  • A self serve portal - individual members should be able to update their information (contact info, location, bio, professional experience, etc) - highest priority
  • Send announcements via email
  • Track upcoming events (least priority)

I realize there might not be a single tool that can do all of these, so I'm open to multiple suggestion.

I've found Mobilizon, but it seems to lack the option where members can categorically provide additional information about themselves.

Still cant figure out how I'd login with the tchncs.de account. Is there some hidden option I'm missing? Once I change the home server to tchncs.de, I see only two text boxes (for username & password) and a 'Continue' button. Zitaldel login method is missing.

Not sure if this is the right place to report problems with todo.tchncs.de, but here is my issue:

I created a project and task, with start date, end date, due date, notification yesterday. Today I tried to mark the task completed. However, the checkbox does not stay in "done" state and the task goes back to the "incomplete" state. Also, I get a green popup on the bottom momentarily with the message:

I did try this on a private window as well, so clearing cache wouldnt help I suppose

I just tried Vikunja and I totally loved it! Years ago I was searching for something open and that feels lightweight which includes support for gantt charts. Vikunja checks all boxes!

Gotcha, thanks for clarification. Will play around with it a little more.

Did you mean to say I could upgrade to element-x from element ?

I stand corrected, fellow Lemmings :D

Precisely my thought!

Hi,

I signed up for a tchncs.de account and I wanted to try out Element-X android app. It's login asks me for a password, which fails login, and I don't see the tchncs authentication method. Has anyone got it working?
